Argos TV Only Lasted 19months (My rights please?)

After phoning Argos and appearing to be going round in circles I have just written to Argos in relation to a Bush Tv combi only lasting 19 months. After contacting Argos I feel I have received their same basic standard reply again (I would like to know my full rights in regards to me having to pay to get an independent engineering report from a VAT registered company on headed paper to prove there was a defect when I bought the TV.)
Please read below:
Dear Sir / Madam,
I am writing to you to raise an issue about: Argos Stores TV
The issue that I have experienced was: Purchased a Bush 22" Combination LED TV/DVD along with the suitable wall bracket from Argos on 10th May 2017 for £145.48; wall bracket was extra. (Order no: .............)
This TV was securely attached to the additional purchased wall bracket / installed and set up in my bedroom on Sun 14th May 2017.
This TV has had a daily usage of approx 1hr per day. (It has never been left on standby mode).
This TV has worked perfectly up until Thurs 6th Dec 2018 when the TV screen switched itself off including the red standby light. This TV no longer lights up, including the red standby light. All resets / hard resets have been tried.
Basically, I have had approximately just under 19 months of usage at 1hr a day equalling approximately a total of 570 hours of usage. (I have not deducted any days it was not used i.e. for holidays etc)
This Bush TV has been tested by myself with a professional 'Fluke Voltage Detector Pen' to diagnose that power is going from the plug into the back of the TV, thus deducing that an internal power fault has arisen in the TV.
I am now left with a useless empty TV bracket on my bedroom wall and I have been informed by Argos / Technical Support 'TMTI' ref: ... ... ... they will not replace / refund this TV until I have spent time and money obtaining an independent fault test, with full report! (This will cost me approximately £60-£70) which may or may not be refunded by Argos.
I fully feel this failed TV was not 'FIT-FOR-PURPOSE' in regards to usage time.
Legally, retailers must fix or offer part-refunds if goods fail within six years if it's deemed reasonable that they should last that long. Televisions, you would imagine, should last six years, and certainly longer than two years.
Where do you stand if you purchase faulty goods?
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 any item you purchase from a retailer should be as described, of a satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and last a reasonable amount of time.
This means that if a product turns out to be damaged or faulty at the time of sale, or if a fault emerges over time, you are entitled to a refund, repair or replacement from the retailer.
I look forward to your prompt response on this matter. As recommended by Trading Standards, I would like to keep a complete record of my case, so please reply back via this email account.
Yours faithfully,

Thank you for your email regarding your faulty TV. I am sorry to hear that it is no longer working. I understand how frustrating this can be.
In regards to getting the problem resolved. Argos offer a 12 month warranty period on all items. EU law states we have to give 6 months, but as I said we offer 12 months. As you are outside of the warranty period then you are right to state we have a 6 year duty of care. Unfortunately, the onus is on yourself to prove the TV is faulty. It is also correct that you have to get an independent engineering report from a VAT registered company on headed paper to prove there was a defect when you bought the TV. You will have to pay for the report but we would refund the amount of that as well as giving yourself a pro rata refund if the report proves a fault. This does not by no means affect your statutory rights.
I hope this helps.

Your six year fix is wrong.Argos are 100% right .
Consumer rights stickie is at the top .
Basics are after 6 months the vendor can ask you .
To prove your claim via an independant report .( see multiple identical posts )
(
I fully feel this failed TV was not 'FIT-FOR-PURPOSE' in regards to usage time.)
Then the law says you prove it .0 -
What they have stated is correct. You need to prove fault was there when they sold tv to you. If fault was there they will refund part of the cost of your tv as you have used it for 19 months.0

This TV has developed a fault so what happens when a TV developes a fault instead of proving it was shipped with a fault?0
-
You get an engineer report to assess the device and they state (on the balance of probabilities) whether the fault was due to manufacturing materials or process, or caused by the user.
If the report states it was not user-caused then you present that report to Argos. They then provide a relevant remedy (repair, replace, refund - will be partial) and also reimburse the (reasonable - up to £70) cost of the report.0 -
Same applies independant enginners report .
Basically saying manufacturing fault should have lasted longer.
Vendor may then offer a repair or a pro rata refund .0 -
[STRIKE]Did it come with any additional warranty?[/STRIKE] Read that bit now.
TBH I wouldn't expect much from a TV (and bracket) that cost £145ish and even less with a BUSH sticker on it. But that doesn't alter the advice given by the other posters.0 -

You pay for a repair if you can get it repaired nowadays.
If you want a long warranty, buy from JL or RS or others whom offer 5 or 6 years from purchase, sometimes inclusive or at extra cost to you.0 -
