Ebay Fraud

  • When you say open a case, is this the process of contacting the seller then escalating it to ebay to contact the seller and leave ebay to solve the issue/concern for you?
You contact the seller by using the correct option; if you use the wrong one such as "I wish to contact the seller" a case isn't opened. When you use "not as described" for example, it opens a case with the seller. This is an automatic process.
Then after x number of days, I think 5, you can "ask eBay to step in."

    Thank you for your advice.

I am confused is this process still an option even though Ebay are aware of the issue and state they have exhausted all possible avenues in attempting to resolve this?
  • This sounds like it could be "brushing" where someone takes your details and buys things from an illegitimate store and to get purchases but it didn't go to plan as they didn't change the address. I would contact action fraud with the proof that eBay are saying that it's an illegitimate purchase. It's 100% fraud, in a lot of cases they will give you a crime number

I don't know because I don't know to what degree eBay have really looked into it or what's been done, or whether you're just getting scripted answers to be honest. But my first inclination would have been to have used the case system to get your refund regardless of the initial cause of the order. We get sellers on here where the shoe is on the other foot and they post on here saying they sold an item and now the buyer wants and return and they ask what will happen if they close their eBay and PayPal accounts.

Thank you, I will attempt this and post the outcome here.
