The seller could be confused/using 'paypal address' as a generic for the address given on confirming payment.

Was the ipad worth what was paid? Do you think the seller was genuine?

I have been told the ipad is overpriced but not massively.

Yes I do think the seller account is fake.

Ebay refused to contact the seller and refused to deal with the return

But did you open a case on eBay?

  • I have attempted to but ebay have repeatedly told me to take the issue up with my bank and the Police.
I have spoken to my bank and they informed me that ebay did not provide them with evidence showing this to be fraud.
The Police have informed me that they will only collect the information, but cannot help in me retrieving my money.

I don't know but I would have thought it was your bank you would be chasing if people have used your account/card without your knowledge.

While I realise this has all gone through ebay if you want your money back it would have to be from the bank rather than the place the transaction went through.

I am chasing my bank but ebay have not been helpful in this pursuit and they did originally inform me that the transaction would be cancelled and all fees would be credited back to my account.

I'm sorry but you seem to be skirting around this issue of whether you opened a case or not.

You open a case yourself under your purchase history screen. eBay don't actually tell you whether you can or can't. It's something on the eBay system you simply do yourself.

When you say open a case, is this the process of contacting the seller then escalating it to ebay to contact the seller and leave ebay to solve the issue/concern for you?

I have done this but ebay refused to contact the seller "Please understand that we are not able to contact the seller in your behalf however you can email the seller that their item is in your possession and you'd like to be refunded in exchanged." this is part of the email sent by ebay regarding this case of fraud.
