  • Well my messages just got delivered to Ben. So, I rang him twice. Both rang out to voicemail. Now the phone is off again.

Can't wait to find out what is going on here.

There is another Ben Davies building surveyor in bristol but works for Watts Group so says google and linkedin.

Unlikely to be the same person but still there is more than one in the area.

Are you calling the number on their webpage?

Judging by the lack of web presence it looks like they could all work elsewhere and this is a bit of a sideline
  • I spoke to Ben on the phone and he certainly seemed like he knew what he was talking about, he had a very well spoken, if I dare say it, posh voice, was you Ben the same? I have a strong feeling 'Ben' is also Bookasurvey and is possibly a ex surveyor or has studied it at college?

Interestingly I'm on the Suffolk/Essex border so why would a man based in Bristol come to view the property?
  • He was well spoken, articulate, and knew his house bulding/structure terminology. The fact he actually signed the keys out is the oddest, and he mentioned specific areas of the property which I know are issues, so I can only assume he actually turned up...however I am not sure how much I fed these to him when I had the courtesy call on the day of the survey, or if he looked on rightmove to build a story. He may have taken all of these and elaborated. He told me the type of damp (which I knew), had to move a picture to reveal a hidden crack, had to move the clothes in the upstairs bedroom to check moisture levels.

All very odd. Keen to see if others has similar feedback.

....did he sign the keys back in?
  • Yes he did, it's in the estate agents log.
  • Hi I used them and have had a terrible time ben Davies seemingly collected and returned keys but that is it after several emails and texts and attempted phone calls still no report that was 3 weeks ago money has been taken now contacting nationwide for refund book a survey are impossible to get hold of just no answer and no replies from emails or messages I have now had to get another company in to do the survey frustrated is an understatement!!! Definitely a scam or they gone bust and not paid hunter and mason the money
  • Just an update on this - I have since had another £669 taken from my account. On the phone to the bank now.
  • I was also assigned 'Ben Davies'
Had two payments taken from my account.
bookasurvey.co.uk and 'Ben' are now uncontactable.
A man turned up at my estate agents, collected keys and rang me when he was at the house. Really professional on the phone. Gave me a really detailed overview of the house so i'm presuming he went in, basically advised me not to buy the house. He spoke to my husband the next day and confirmed all he had said about the house to me. Never recieved the actual report and he's gone awol.
    This is really strange.
  • We have also been scammed by BookASurvey.

We found the site about 10 days ago when looking for a private HomeBuyers Report / Survey, it looked professional on the outside and importantly - they said they could complete the survey before Christmas.

We paid the £410, no survey has been booked with the estate agent or completed - we've just had an additional £704 taken out of our account for no reason - can't get through to anyone via their phone line (it just goes to VoiceMail), their website looks out of action.

Feels like we've been completely scammed here, over £1000 taken out of our account so far - the week before Christmas too :(
