I dont think the New Star Africa Fund can be held in an ISA
Why has no one mentioned the Fidelity Emerging Europe, Middle East and Africa Fund ?

Hope this is useful
Hi Whiteflag
H-L were happy to put it into my ISA for me :j
As regards that other fund, its possibly not been mentioned on here because its quite a 'wide' fund. Plus, it doesn't have a picture of a lion on its prospectus :rotfl:, plus, with a near 50% of the fund being invested in SA, its a bit of a different animal altogether.0 -
The Lion roars
Its taken a little while, but my Heart of Africa fund is showing a profit (even if its only for today :rotfl: ).0 -

The only way is UP .........BAABBBYYYYY !!!!'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
I think the muted start is due to a number of factors, eg low sales of teddy bears in the Sudan
.
I've asked my brother-in-law in Kenya to work a bit harder, so we should see a giant step forward after his Christmas break.
If we were invested in Tusker, judging by his contribution alone, the fund would have doubled in value by now."Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm" (Sir Winston Churchill)0 -
I was watching The Long Way Down (where Ewan McGregor & Charley Boorman ride the length of Africa on motorbikes) and everytime that the road came to an end and became a dirt track I thought "why doesn't the governmment of (insert country here) get the Heart of Africa boys in to improve the infrastructure for them -- and make a few quid for me as well at the same time :rotfl:
p.s. did anyone like the Lions Roar ?0 -

Long Way Down was good, though hope that's not an omen for the fund;)

you should have done you/me/we would be owning a small African country by now :j
shock of shocks, the fund is actually up again0 -
I'm curious to know what shares the fund is holding - it seems to be too new for details to be on Trustnet.
An African fund that excluded South Africa,North Africa and Egypt would appear to be a little limited in choices, given the small number and size of most other stock exchanges in the area.Trying to keep it simple...0 -

Thats why it's called 'Heart of Africa' Ed :j'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

That's why I'd like to know what it's invested in.Last time I looked there wasn't much in the heart of Africa except lions and their wildlife colleagues, whose profitability and dividend paying capacity seems rather limited.Trying to keep it simple...0
