dumpling Can you ring the dentist and ask for an emergency appointment? Make it clear that Lily is in agony and they might get her in quicker (mine will see you within 24 hours), or refer her to your local dental access centre x
Thanks for the idea but this is her emergency appointment. The only way to see someone quicker would be for her to pay £200 which as a 17 year old girl she doesn't have and neither do we. I am very cross about it, the poor thing has been in agony for ages but they are just a very busy surgery and nowhere else in the area is taking on NHS patients. The nearest dental access centre is in Exeter and we don't have a car so she is just having to make do with painkillers, ice packs and hot water bottles.
Congratulations WeeMidgie, what lovely news. Lee was supposed to be a Christmas baby but he couldn't wait either. Hope you have many years of joy with your new grand daughter xx

Morning folks.
Darker mornings for longer here, I'm looking forward to the solstice. I just want to hibernate in this darkness.
The slow cooked venison shank was lovely, will do that again. I put some sausages in the oven yesterday to have with soup, and promptly forgot about them. Only remembered after nearly two hours - cue very blackened and shrivelled objects. At least I DID remember.
WeeMidge - what a joy for your family. Congratulations on the safe arrival.
Now I have a book to finish before venturing out. I've got one small piece of work to do though I am actively ignoring a huge amount of other stuff.
I hope everyone has a happy Tuesday.0 -
Morning all and thanks for the start Bella, sorry you are having sleep problems.
Big congratulations to the new Grandma, what a lovely early present for the whole family x
Still feeling a bit rubbish but not as bad so some improvement, at least I kept my tea last night - sorry if tmi.
Today we have a delivery sometime between 11 and 1pm so will hang around for that and possibly tackle my pile of ironing whilst waiting
I did get over to see my lovely girlie yesterday but did nothing more strenuous than give her a groom in her stable so will see how things go for today.
Hugs to all poorlies and those struggling with worries & cares.
Have a good day folks x0 -
Morning everyone,
I'm feeling much more human today. My 2 day hangover has gone. I started to wilt yesterday afternoon, which I found strange as I felt absolutely fine in the morning (and no, I wasn't still drunk haha!). As such, I couldn't bring myself to make the Hungarian goulash as I had planned, and dropped by Aldi on my way home for a pizza.
So tonight I'm back on the train again. I'll go to the gym after work and then I'll attempt this recipe. I'll also give my gran a phone too.
My bank has caught up with my spends of the week and I spent £100. Of course, it's money I would love in the bank, especially at this time of year, but as I said, I truly felt like I had to. And plus I got a girls number, so you might want to dust your hats off (for the 4th or 5th time).
AoD - I assumed that's what you meant when you said you were making a bear but I wasn't 100% sure. I've been opened up a whole lot of new sayings down here and that might have meant something completely different!
Midgie - Awww congratulations!!! What a lovely early Christmas present.
Lainey - I hope you continue to improve. Time with animals always makes you feel better.0 -
Oh also, quick question that you MSE'ers could help with;
My friend, his fiance and their 2 year old son are thinking of coming down to visit this weekend. I know what they're like, they are very caring and generous, and I've a funny feeling they will bring some sort of gift. Especially given the weekends escapades, I'm not really in a position to be spending and buying 3 gifts in return, so what should I do? Should I tell them not to in advance? But that's a bit...bah humbug and assumptive. Or do I buy them something I keep it should they give me something....?0 -
Speky perhaps rather than presents you could make / bake them something special, a posh cake that you could all enjoy?0

Morning all
Thanks for the thread Bella and hugs to all those in need.
Speky, either buy something just for the little one, or buy something consumable, like a hamper then you can keep it for yourself if it's not needed.
Another one here not getting much sleep. I go to bed around 10ish, I either fall asleep for about half an hour then wake up and read until 2 or 3 when I drop off again, or I can't get to sleep until 2 or 3.
The first person to view my house put an offer in £15k under the asking price, it's priced low so I refused, he upped his offer by £5k but I've still refused, there are 4 more viewing book for the weekend. I see it as a game to be played, CHS is throwing a strop and threatening to take the house off the market, he is being totally irrational, hey ho.
Have a good day everone,
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning (((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
A bright start but OH tells me there is rain in the offing. Bed linen in the washer, it will not be going on the line, no dashing out to retrieve wet sheets.
Cleaner is poorly, so I am going to have to muddle through myself, will have to get OH to help me with the quilt cover, will do a quick shift with the duster and vacuum, we have friends coming this afternoon. I also need a quick trip to the post office to post some stuff and collect next weeks TV choice.
Hester...... CHS's irrational behaviour is part of the stroke syndrome. You often find after a stroke some behavioural patterns are accentuated. Stick to your guns, you deserve a decent price for the house, after all you worked your guts out to pay the mortgage.
Yesterday was busy, it looks like the rest of the week is going to be the same, will be glad when the weekend comes and I can take it a bit easier. My wrist support is helping, but I do have to take it off to do some things.
Despite phoning and leaving a message the OT turned up yesterday, tough, we have her phone number so we can re-arrange for her to come. She thinks OH's return of the headache is coincidental, sorry Mrs I do not agree.
Yesterday afternoon whilst OH was at evergreens I went to Morrison and stocked up with tinned fruit, veg and some meat. I have plenty of bread flour so if the weather does turn bad we should be ok.
Stew and dumplings tonight, not sure whats for dessert.0 -
Just popping back to congratulations to Midgie & family.
Csarina, the house is in my name only, which he has probably forgotten.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Congratulations Weemidgie.
Speky, I agree with Hester, buy something for the little one, then either way it won't be awkward.
Dumpling, I don't have any sort of relationship with my four brothers and I was determined it would be different with my own family. I made sure they knew they were loved every day and tried to ensure that we did lots of things together. It seems to have worked as they have a close relationship in their 30's.
It was lovely to see Laura yesterday, she seems to be much happier at the moment. Brian is negotiating with two companies that have offered him jobs so it looks as if he will be back at work in January after a year out, he'll find it very strange I'm sure.
Steve's blood test day today, hopefully the levels will have stopped increasing so much. He enjoyed the yoga session yesterday and came away with several exercises to do.
I want to post the cards today, I wrote the letters to go with them at Laura's so that's another thing out of the way.0
