Remind us of what equipment you have. Is it just a tablet that you use for the internet and you have no PC?
External drives can be had for around a tenner, but then you have to connect it to something..

I now have a Acer 14 chromebook. A Samsung A6 tablet. A Samsung A5 mobile.

I don't think external CD drives work with chromebooks.

However, he will need to install Linux onto the chromebook for that to work, as I read it....

Have a look at https://www.ondesoft.com/spotify-converter-for-mac/convert-spotify-to-mp3.html it lists different ways to convert Spotify to MP3 - scroll down to Part 2 Free tools to convert Spotify to mp3 - I have not tried any as I don't have Spotify Premium.


Alternatively download MP3 files from Youtube using MP3jam - http://www.mp3jam.org/

Well I've read the link and was prepared to install Linux, then looked at devices, which although priced in dollars, seemed to be ok, then I got to the bit where I have to accept powerwash to the chromebook.

I think that's a step too far. Only had this a fortnight, only just getting used to it, so have pulled back the reigns here, thanks.
