Amazon Prime Delivery

Options
I ordered an item on Wednesday from Amazon Prime for next day delivery. On Thursday I got a card telling me it had been left with a neighbour. Oh good, I shall pop over and get it. I have been several times and she has not been at home and I understand she is on vacation.

Hi, For the benefit of anyone in a similar situation, I contacted Amazon:
I have checked and normally, in this situation, I'd create a replacement order for the item right away, to be sent to you as soon as possible at no additional charge. However, your order was sold by seller " Rankie-Direct" and labelled ‘Fulfilled by Amazon’. Fulfilled by Amazon items are generally sold by third-party Sellers but stored in an Amazon Fulfilment Centre and sent to you from there. Because the Seller's inventory is constantly changing, we can't replace any item sold by them that is Fulfilled by Amazon.
To assist you better in this situation, I can arrange a full refund for you.
    I hope this helps?
Please note this item was not expensive, only £5.99.
    Me:
I would be very pleased to accept a refund. If and when I receive the item what should I do?

short of getting hold of your neighbour you will just have to wait it out.

Or buy another and return the one with your neighbour un opened.

I'd take the refund and order elsewhere if the neighbour isn't back by Sunday. Does sound odd they'd take a parcel in if they were going away the same/next day though.

It's possible that the neighbour simply has a bigger letterbox so the deliverer was able to post it through their door when the OP wasn't home, not realising that the neighbour is actually away.

You can select safe place on your amazon prime for future use. Or if I expected something and cant wait in all day I have it posted either to Morrisons or just down road from me local hospital have the lockers. I just picked something up 40 minutes ago doing that, this doesn't appear to work for all things especially 3rd parties

    yes, you can do something.

Be present at your address next time you order something for delivery, you know, it's not hard, especially when you know what day it will be getting delivered

Really? Is there any need for that?

Myself I gernally use amazon as I can be home and their deliverys are excellent. Unlike most others where things turn up on random dates without notice.

Anyway the fact is sometimes you have to go out, even at short notice. I would use amazon locker if possible if I knew I was out (size of parcel being approriate). Hey you could even be on the toilet or in the shower. Not all Amazon deliveries give the nice info on the van and number of stops to go.

What is inappripriate is delivery drivers dumping things in random places and not informing you. Running away in the 20 seconds it takes me to go downstairs. Or inded as suggested neighbours taking in parcels when they know they will be away shortly (I know some poepl cannot say no, but really they should, I have (and am happy to take in if appropriate)). Or even as otherwise suggested using a neighbours post box because it is larger.

Amazon do get if right in my view 99% of the time though. I'm sure the bad delivery drivers are weeded out unlike many other companies.
