I've just topped up my mortgage OP for July so my new July total is £314.43.

Nearly down to £3,000 owing now... exciting!

    £3k, that's amazing.
That's 10 months at your op rate, but I'm guessing much quicker than that with 'normal' payments being made as well.

Thanks, wishingthemortgageaway - it's been a while coming as we couldn't afford to overpay for a long time, then did so for a year or so, then life got in the way again and we've added to the mortgage twice - but the home strait feels good even if it could in reality have been sooner.
What's really nice is seeing the interest rate get smaller and smaller every month. A couple of months ago it was £14, now it's £12. :D

I'd just like to say to you all - those little overpayments, the odd bit here and there: it all adds up.

    No 143 here,

final OP for July, just made a payment of £500.

rounding our payments for the year to date to a nice round £20,000.

interestingly our overpayment borrow-back pot now sits at a few pounds over £90k! crazy to see such a high number, and how much it all adds up :) keep chipping away!

I have 6 more pay days before 2020...(get paid tonight :p ) and £20,000 to clear the mortgage for good :j
    Mortgage debt : -£17,000
    2019 overpayments : £23,000
  • July hasn't gone as well as I'd hoped -
A boiler scare means we are diverting £100 a month into a 'new boiler' pot and reduced over time and expenses has impacted on my ability to over pay so:

    #28 with a July overpayment of £180.70.

    Many thanks
    Wish.

I would have said that was a very good use for the money - and once the boiler is bought you will be able to go back to Plan A. Much better than having a boiler crisis and emergency call outs to pay in the middle of winter.

Pay is in! I've just made my first August overpayment of £200. Determined they won't charge me more interest than's necessary. :)

    That's for no. 30 please. :)

#75 reporting in with an OP total of £190.06 for July.

We've had a major shift in focus from OP's to pensions and diverted monies previously allocated for OP. So a slowdown in MFW plans but still heading in right financial directions!
    MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......
