If there is a second referendum ...

The respecting of our democracy is far more valuable than the benefits of remaining.
I do not know whether the decision will turn out to be good or a disaster but I do strongly believe we ALL need to respect the decision.
I am respecting the 52% of the people who actually voted & am now backing compulsory voting. And that respect is what is making me look after my own interests rather than those of anyone else. I used to vote based on the good of all - such as pensioners living on very restricted income, working poor, children living in poverty, homeless & just generally not as fortunate as I have been (I live on well under average wage by the way with no benefits). But I'm all right Jack & it is down to only me now to make sure I stay that way. So sad to be back at everyman for himself!0 -

I agree, that is why I am backing a second referendum now that the voters have a clearer idea of what Brexit means.
I quite like the Polish workers who work for my cousin too, but they are starting to expect more money, and the economic background is still pretty challenging.
I understand why he would want to look for cheaper options from elsewhere.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

Did you honestly think it meant something else?
We are all rank hypocrites if you ask me.
Look at your laptop/phone/tablet and ask yourself this. Do you really care what the makers get paid? I mean the actual people on the factory floor. I suspect most of us don't even know the pay rate.
This site is dominated by people chasing the cheaper deal. A stat yesterday said that 1 in 3 were shopping in some way or other for a sales bargain.
So why shouldn't the cost of labour here be treated any differently? It's harsh perhaps, but that's the economic reality in a so called globalized world.
On the upside, though, vast numbers of people in the Far East have been lifted out of poverty. They are our tomorrow consumer.0 -

What's not to understand about wanting the freedom to run your own country? That's what all this was about in 2016 and will always be what its all about.0 -
I am continually surprised at the excuses remainers put forward to justify their decisions to reject democracy.

I suspect one of the reason that people voted Brexit was the influx of Eastern Europeans putting downward pressure on wages. If it is pointed out in the new referendum, that these people may be replaced by even cheaper workers from other places on the planet, let us see how they vote?'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. No problem, as long as the workers in this country are fully aware that they are in the position of, say, Turkeys voting for Christmas.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. The freedom to vote for other people to have a supply problem with their medicines, for it to be necessary to bring in the army (no deal preparations), to bring economic hardship to others, make it easier for criminals, immigrants etc. is not a freedom that should have put to the democratic vote...................but I accept that we did.0 -

Only one anecdote but my brother who has a Thai wife has no problem with the thorough checks she and he both had to go through, but doesn't agree with freedom of movement for criminals from Europe.
I think your suspicion is far too simplistic.0 -
If we really want to be free of foreign influence then we should throw out all the foreigners who now own all our infrastructure & export all the profits. Are any of the power companies actually british owned, any communications companies?0
