  • Thanks Lucielle

As I said earlier OH and I have a chat this weekend with ref cars well more specifically his. As I've said earlier in my thread he's a bit of a petrol head and likes cars. He's been on for a while about changing his car .

One of our loans - currently at £6.8k was for our cars - and OH wants when its pratical to change his car and basically retain a car loan.

In essense this means that we won't get DF but will continue to have a car loan on our books.

So in pratical terms this means that our current debt to clear is standing at £26.6K which is still scary in the current climate. I've decided not to amend my figures but just wanted to share what we're aiming to achieve.

  • Hi Lucielle

Feel quite guilty really. I sell:
    • Clothes I've bought and in some cases not worn - usually because they didn't quite fit
    • Kids toys that they've outgrown - these usually sell well
    • Kids clothes that they've outgrown - again these tend to sell well
    • Books
Generally stuff that is lying around the house! Sometimes I only get a few quid but its a few quid off the debt which really does all help :T

  • Hi all

I'm was sure I posted quite a moany post last night and I look this am and its not there. My intention was posting this am to say that I've bitten the bullet and decided to do something about my weight - I've joined Tesco ediets.

I've got to shift this weight as its starting to get me down. I wanted to use some of the techniques that we've used to reduce our debt with my weight loss. Lets face it if I can control our finances I can loose a stone or two of extra weight. However I did feel that I needed some form of online foum for support......so after pondering I've signed up to tesco ediets - I can just afford it from my monthly cash;) and I'm on the road to getting DF and getting lighter as well. Here goes!!

I was also fed up with being so disorganised which is how I feel at present. I think that this is linked in with me working so many extra hours last month (the money will be lovely but I need to get more incontrol otherwise I'll lose the plot). From Jan I'll be working these hours all the time so I need to get myself organised. I think I get fed up last night, Friday night, spending an evening filing paperwork........how sad is that..........I guess I was on a downer, we all get them, and needed a little perspective.

These two points are linked. Since I've been working more I've realised I'm wearing the same old clothes week in week out. I've still got stacks of lovely stuff in the wardrobe barely worn because its a little too tight - hence my motivation for losing weight to be able to get into the stuff thats lurking in my wardrobe.

This morning I was coming on to post that I was feeling positive and in control and looking forward to achieving my aims of losing weight and getting DF:cool:

    hi there

i've recently lost weight for the first time in my life, and thought i'd share it with you if it will help at all.

i hated the fact that i couldn't wear the clothes i wanted to because of my size. i know all about healthy eating and what i'm supposed to eat, i just always want to eat lots more! and of the wrong things!

i decided to go for portion size - i know everyone is different, but it has worked for me. the only thing is i know it will be forever, so to speak.

for breakfast normally i would have a massive bowl of cereal or 2 pieces of toast plus biscuits. now i eat one toast or small cereal and no biscuits - some days its hard, but if i think about the biscuits i just remind myself it's either the biscuits (which i don't need, i'm not hungry at that point) or the clothes.

lunch is 2 ryvita with philly plus a yoghurt - i also have nuts/fruit/seeds etc with me all the time in case i work late and need a afternoon boost before a late tea.

for tea i eat less (i even leave food now) and i still have half a normal choc bar for afters.

the biggest thing is that i concentrate on my food and eat slowly. i cut my toast into 2 or 4 (and feel like i've got more) and eat all food and the choc more slowly.

i've lost almost a stone now and have had to buy new clothes (including fab ones i actually like) and as i look and feel better there is no way i want to jeapordise (?sp) that so it is now self-motivating. i have also upped my walking and even run up and down the stairs at night and cut out alcohol during the week.

    good luck with it x
  • Thanks for the post firesidemaid I did appreciate that

I'm like you in that I know what I should be doing, eating etc but I can't quite find the motivation. Over the weekend I've taken out of my wardrobe all the things which I can't fit into, or fit into just (!?!) and I've got them piled up on a chair. This for the next week or two will be my motivation to do something positive! Thanks also for the tips - I'll take everything on board.

On the MS front I've spoken to the mortgage advisor to see what sort of deal he can come up with for when our fix ends at the end of Jan09. To be honest I'm a little worried about it because of our debt but he seems to think it will be Ok so I'll wait and see what he comes back with tomorrow night.

This week I'm going to list a huge amount on ebay - I've been neglecting this for the last few weeks. I've just sorted through by DS's clothes, passed things down and am now left with a pile of clothes which can be either passed on or sold dependant on their condition/label.

I'm working extra hours, this week and next, so I should have a few extra in the coffers for the loan payment/cc clearing fund next month.

I've got a mystery shop to do on Tuesday.

I've got most of my tax return done I just need to get my interest statements sorted out. I wouldn't mind but its not as if I've got loads of savings but I guess its got to be done.

Had a large bill for my OH's car this week (£600:eek: ) but thankfully we've got the money saved in my car fund. The danger will come at the end of the year when we've x2 car taxes in December and Insurances in Jan. I'm sure it will work out.

So I'm looking forward to an another Debt busting week and a weight busting week...............here goes:rolleyes:

Good luck with the weight loss! My head is just not in the right place for that at the moment, although I do still carry round my weightwatchers "gold" card to prove to myself from time to time that I CAN do it.......
