Working Hard Debt Diary - Here goes

Yippee - I've just made the final payment to clear another credit card. I've made it early using my OD but there is a very certain method in my maddness.
By clearing the Halifax card I will then have another completely clear card with which to do a BT. This will be from the MBNA card (currently very low rate but about to jump to 27% in August). I wanted the Halifax card to be clear since at one point (in our long distance past we took out a large cash sum - husbands car   ) and the balance was I'm sure the remant of that CA. By ensuring the card was clear the BT will be the only rate and therefore it will be simple to calculate etc. By using the OD it allows us to make the BT and therefore have everything (fingers crossed) lined up for the next six months of debt busting.
I hope that is clear - I do ramble on.
I am still awfully scared of applying for a 0% deal. Perhaps at the end of the year when we'll be in a stronger position (less debt) I might dip my toe in the water so to speak and apply for one but not yet....no no no:D
Last month of the morgage holiday this month. Glad we did it since its certainly given us the space to make inroads in our debt and feel like we are more in control.
Once the BT goes through our target CC will be the IF one which is on spilt rates at 16.94% and some at 4.74%. Need to rework my spreadsheet:cool:Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -
Just been reading your diary and wanted to say I find it very inspirational to see how you have managed to clear £14k of debt in such a short period of time.

You are doing fantastically well,0 -
Thanks for your comments.
I've not completed the application form yet but the closing date is the 27/6 so I've plenty of time. Job to do on Monday am when I'm child free for a few hours.
I've got lots of bids on ebay which is great. Nots of money but it really does help the debt reduce.
Finally received my home insurance renewal. £273 !! Definately needs comparing and getting some cash back. Job for next week as well.Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -
Sold another load of stuff on ebay. Not mega bucks but I am not complaining another £28 on the £10pd June challenge.
Got my home insurance through so hopefully that will help with the cash back. I've got £140 tracking in Quidco so I will look forward to getting that through.
Keeping motivated - just

BT £5000 from the MBNA account to the Halifax at 7.92% LOB so hopefully that will help get the DFD a little nearer. Posted a load of ebay parcels yesterday. Looking forward to payday to see how much more I get paid this month for working my extra hours. Can't add it to the £10 pd challenge since its normal now and not an extra. It will certainly help though.Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0

Feeling a little hacked off tonight.
Got paid today and I didn't get quite as much as expected. Our payroll supplier is incredibly poor so I need to check everything out. I'm sure something has gone wrong with the pay but I need to have the time and energy to check it out. Uggh why is nothing simple!!
I've just done the online banking and paid the Cc's. I do it manually since I like to ensure that all information is entered etc. Well I can't believe it I may be late with a payment. It needs to be there by the 30/6 and I've made the payment tonight so odds on it will be late again  entirely my fault. I think I may have taken my eye off the ball this week.
Added to this the joint account (which until recently had a huge overdraft) has gone overdrawn. Some of that was down to me making a CC payment early so that I could BT (see earlier post) but the rest of that is us spending - on essentials petrol/food etc- before we got paid. My OH often has to drive around for work and as such needs to be able to put petrol in the car. The £300 pm car money is working well but lots of travelling this week meant that the petrol kitty was empty. I WILL NOT BE OVERDRAWN AGAIN so I need to sort it. How well the cc payment was planned, the petrol costs will come out of the petrol account when the money transfer, the food spending likewise from the food account and the bit of cash from the entertainment budget. Any shortfall will be made up from the ebay sales (currrently £48 in paypal and £40 in savings account). We will be in credit within a few days I promise.
I think I've realised that you can't take your eye off the ball at all in this game - thats where danger lurks.
We are away over payday next month so I need to ensure everything is in order for that and I've got holiday childcare to organise as well.

can you pay your credit card using your debit card - then it would be immediate? not all cards allow this, but it should say on the back of your statement.
could you ring them in advance to try and avoid them charging you? i have done that before.0 -
Thanks for that firesidemaid I might try giving them a ring on Monday and pleading holiday or something....entirely my fault but frustrating all the same.
Then to top it all one of my ebay sales and demanded a refund. I'm not happy about that since she bought something for £3 but its not worth quibbling about - frustrating:mad:
I'm still feeling a little down about everything at present. I think its because we are in a real lull in our Debt bashing. We've come a long way and made fantastic progress but we've still got such a way to go. Additionally pyschologically we won't be able to clear another card completely until the end of the year and as I am sure a few of you know clearing a card gives you such a kick!
