Help with Vodafone default due to mental health issues

Hi all,
I would really appreciate your help on an issue I'm having with my credit file vs Vodafone
4 years ago I was having some mental health issues (depression and anxiety) and this affected my ability to work and thus my income. I got in a bit of a mess with with my loan payments and other creditors but spoke to them all and arranged payment plans as needed. Vodafone were the least helpful. I went into my local Vodafone store as well as speaking to their call centre numerous times explaining my health issues but without hardly any notice they defaulted my account. (the account was fully settled anyway during this period and they're no longer my mobile phone provider).
Recently I've been trying to get my credit file in order and have tried to contact Vodafone via their call centre to see if they can help rectify this situation. It's been almost impossible to speak to anyone that can help me and i resorted to emailing their Director Support team. After finally speaking to someone on the phone they let me know they can't retrieve any information on my account as I only have my mobile number and old address (I find this hard to believe to be honest) and so Ive reached a full stop with them.
What are my best next steps? Any help or advice will be hugely appreciated.
I see from other threads that other people have had similar issues
Thanks!

That's fairly easy to believe. Four years on a settled account could be pushing it for data retention under the new regs. OF course, if you don't believe them, you can always do a SAR.
What else is on your file? When was the default registered? Do you have arrangements from the other lenders?
It may be that the default is the best thing on your file, if you have later AP markers.0 -
what exactly do you want Vodafone to do?0
-
Remove the default if possible.0

I doubt that will happen. The account was defaulted so they have acted appropriately.
Vodafone and any other credit offering company are not interested in how the account became defaulted, nor are they required to do so by law. I guess most people who have defaulted have a back story that is sad, and many will have had medical reasons for defaulting, nonetheless the account was defaulted.
They may be willing to remove it as a gesture of goodwill, so worth a try.0 -
Thanks for coming back to me!
Ok i think SAR is probably my next step.
The only other thing on my file are some missed payments from about the same time (4 years ago). The default was registered April 2014. I had formal arrangements with Barclays Bank and this and all other debts were settled.
Apologies, what are AP markers?0 -
Arrangement to Pay,
If the APs are later than the default, then keep the default as it is, rather than having later APs put on.0 -
Thanks for your advice!
Please could you suggest best next step?

Ok I don't think I have any AP's just missed payments and the 1 Default.0

Go and look at all three of your files and see exactly what appears for all accounts.
Then you can decide if you if it's worth even asking for some goodwill. However, they are extremely unlikely to remove the default regardless, especially after all this time.0
