Same problem. Default account on my credit score with Vodafone. I suffered over charges and cancelled the DD in the notice period through frustration.

I'm afraid once it's defaulted it will be there for 6 years, I learnt that the hard way.

You will have to rebuild your credit score. I'm not an expert but I am closing accounts that I have in good standing, as many as I possibly can. If Vodafone is the last account to be closed and it was a default like me, then this might be helpful. Do close the accounts you have in good standing that you can.

I might be speaking nonsense, but anything is worth a go?

I've also opened up a credit card account with a very low limit and using it on a monthly food shop, and paying it off in full every 6 weeks. It's slow going rebuilding your score.

In my opinion Vodafone have a lot to answer for. Unfortunately, it does seem like the customer always loses out to Vodafone. So many bad experiences I've experienced and heard about with them.

Don't follow this advice. It's definitely not 'worth a go'.

Keep good accounts open. You want to show you can manage accounts well, not have them all closed.

And forget rebuilding a pretend credit score. Build a good credit history.

Left myself in a pickle with cancelling the DD.

I apologise for the bad advice. I was only trying to help alleviate, but sounds like what I'm doing and encouraging you to do would only make it worse.
  • You don’t want to rebuild you credit score and you should only be paying your credit card in full after each statement. Not every 6 weeks
