We are traveling within the EU on 17 April for an Easter holiday. I’m not concerned. It’s a package holiday and I cannot believe it would be in anyone’s interest to cancel all Brits holidaying in the likes of Spain, Portugal or Greece.

Unfortunately none of you can be certain for sure. Definitely everyone will want public transport links to remain operational, but when there is a lack of a shared framework there could be temporary disruption.

It’s not just about immigration or customs rules, is also about the flight safety regulations and agreed flight paths.

No, it doesn't. The OP says they booked in August, so it would have been with the full knowledge of our pulling-up the drawbridge/potential for disruption (albeit unlikely), yet they only start worrying now. Something's not right..?

Yes they are as they are part of Spain. They just have some different financial arrangements around tax etc. as part of their autonomous community status.

My bad. Confused. They are merely just not part of this customs union.

I'm more confused how you can spend £3500 on two weeks in Tenerife!

    We are all wide awake.

The framework that is essential for operating flights is being taken away: either it will be replaced or the 'planes will stay on the ground. That is all that we know for sure. Common sense and all our experience suggests that the officials will put a solution in place PDQ, but nothing like Brexit has ever happened in our lifetimes!

One caution: when we started talking about Brexit, everyone agreed that there needed to be measures to safeguard people living in EU countries other than their own (British people in the EU, EU citizens here), and doing so was simple fairness and common sense. Well, that has not happened. My cousin has lived abroad for years, and the only way to keep her life there is to become a citizen, which forces her to give up British nationality. And meanwhile many of my friends from countries like Italy and Poland have left, or are leaving... If they can't sort out something as simple as that, something that we all knew about for years, we cannot be certain that anything else will be resolved.

    But not for 3 months....

if they were on the ground for a few days, the disruption would be immense and a solution would be found.

You are probably right, but I cannot share your absolute confidence in the people who run things. Neither of us actually know.
