Hi all.
So e-mail or the same app that I send picture in must be on their phones.
If I do this & send a plain text saying ' you have a picture!' & they then turn on WiFi they can view picture either by free WiFi OR use a tiny portion of data allowance, they can then turn off app/e mail by turning off WiFi....correct? Think I get it now.
BTW.... data allowance given to my non web using pals/GF on there SIM only deal not asked for but overall price per month was not beatable on a rolling 1 month contract at the time.0 -
Or, you could upload the picture to a free image hosting site like https://www.imgur.com (others are available), then send the link via text message to your pals. Assuming they have got WiFi or mobile internet, they just need to tap the link in the text message and it will open the image in their phone's web browser.
You can use the corresponding app (i.e. imgur) to upload the photos if you want, but they don't need it to view them. You just need to obtain the link for your uploaded photo from the app and share it via text message.
NB. The images will be publicly viewable by anyone who has the link.0 -
Is anyone really going to bother opening links to emails or hosting sites just to view a gif?
There might be ways to technically achieve what you want, but if it doesn't involve either getting everyone onto WhatsApp or Skype or something similar, or you paying for an MMS, I can't really see it working in practice.0 -
A picture can be embedded into e-mail.stragglebod wrote: »Is anyone really going to bother opening links to emails or hosting sites just to view a gif?0 -
Thanks all. Persuaded a few to download Mott which apparently works offline & has been reccomended by a friend & online. Will just send a text when piccy sent advising pals/GF to turn on WiFi &/or Bluetooth to view.
Will also try Lammys suggestion re: link, advising them to turn on WiFi to read/view piccy. Old fashioned I know but saves charges my end.
FAO Colin, your help is always appreciated. Sorry if I reacted in the wrong way.
Will update on Mott messenger....anyone else used it?:beer:0 -
There's no such thing as Mott messenger as far as I can find! But good luck!0
