:beer:Hi all...thanks for advice on ALL posts....actioning & sorting now!
As per the title.....any free apps that allow picture attachment or MMS to a text message ( I use PULSE as my main message client) I send with the recipient able to receive as a NORMAL text, I.e not with wireless enabled & NOT having to download the app I use to send text+ picture/MMS???
My group of pals & G/F in particular are stuck in the past & won't enable WiFi or download from the web.
Just got a superb 1 month rolling contract, 3 GB data, unlimited texts/calls, got it for SIX QUID by phoning Plusnet as had so many issues with price promised on comparison sites/cashback NOT being available when transferred to Plusnets mobile landing page to order SIMS.
Any help/advice would be great....sick of the internet this weekend!
Thanks!

This doesn't make any sense to me.DEBTMONKEY1A wrote: »My group of pals & G/F in particular are stuck in the past & won't enable WiFi or download from the web.
Why WiFi? What about mobile internet?
If they have and use mobile internet, why not just e-mail the picture? If they don't have mobile internet and don't use WiFi no app would be able to send a picture for free.
To send a MMS you don't need any special app (I think as hardly anybody uses MMSes nowadays).

Unless your friends' handsets are connected to the internet, no app will be able to retrieve the image to display it. You'd be back in the days when all you'd get was an URL with an invitation to go online view the image.
As grumbler says, an ideal cross-platform, cross-app method would be email, although Twitter and Facebook can be accessed via a variety of means. However, all require the use of the internet, whether by mobile data or wi-fi. That image has to travel somehow!
Sending an MMS requires the recipient to have internet access to receive the image and is a relatively expensive method of sending images.0 -
:TMorning! Thanks!
1stly have to persuade GF to turn on WiFi (shes so funny about this....don't know why???!) .Ditto friends.
Assuming I CAN persuade my odd pals & GF to turn WiFi on, they all have free data if not in free WiFi area or at home of 1.5Gb to 3GB a month & it would be under 10 pictures a month sent/received MAXIMUM (so assume wouldn't use much data????!)), the main thing is them NOT having to download another programme to receive FREE pictures.
So ......any free apps I can download & send FREE pictures but friends DON'T have to download the app.....just assuming they have WiFi on!!!!!
Also for me not to pay Plusnet 40p a message.....being one of the main aims....lol!
So if they DO have WiFi on & have access to their 1.5gb-3gb per month ....is there an app I can download but they don't need to that allows them to receive a text with picture attachment AS NORMAL in their message box (not a technical term...sorry!) WITHOUT thrm also having to download same app as me?
Sorry....waffeling....but wanted to be clear...thanks in advance & for posts already & any further help you can give.
Grumbler NOT sick of the wonderful help on here.....JUST bloody comparison sites/cash back sites that lead you up the garden path WITHOUT either dramatically increasing cost OR deal not being there at all...GRRRR.....spent ages...hours on it & eventually the good old telephone gave me a much better deal!0 -

Did you not read any of the posts above???
There's only 2 of them, it won't take long.0 -
YES Colin, I did. As I said in last post, if WiFi on my question is can pictures be received attached to a text or on their own WITHOUT recipient having to download same app I use to send it?
Also can anyone reccomend an app that bypasses Plusnet 40p/ message fee for me to download? Whatsap etc requires ALL recipients to have same app on their phone to receive picture.
Colin....there really is no need to be rude.0 -

Except it's not me being rude, I merely pointed out that all of your questions have been answered above. If you are so ignorant that you want someone to come around and actually do it for you rather than read the advice given then I suspect you're going to be out of luck.
It's certainly the last time I'll assist you.0 -
Colin, your help/advice is ALWAYS appreciated. If l am bring urber thick I stand corrected & apologise.
I've said that I can get GF/pals to switch WiFi on & occasionally use their 1.5 to 3ish GB monthly data. What I can't see is anything that clarifies if a), recipient has to download SAME app as me to view picture, & b) if I send a picture via my downloaded free app to avoid Plusnet charge can the recipient receive attached picture in a normal way as a text....not having to download same app as me to view it?
If points a) & b) ARE covered specifically in replies I am urber stupid & wholeheartedly apologize.
If my criteria can be worked out which app(s) would you kind folks reccomend?
I know it's stupid but GF & 2 of my pals have had issues/malware before & are incredibly wary of any download(s). However I can probably persuade them to leave WiFi on.
Thanks again.0 -
What we do is use Facebook messenger. And have a private group for family members.
So those who want to use their mobile data and/or WiFi can use the Facebook Messenger app and those that don't can use the PC and log onto Facebook website and read the messages there.0 -
Do you not understand the difference between WiFi and mobile internet?DEBTMONKEY1A wrote: »I've said that I can get GF/pals to switch WiFi on & occasionally use their 1.5 to 3ish GB monthly data.
One doesn't need mobile data to use WiFi, that is free, and the only reason for switching it off is to save battery.
All smartphones have a e-mail app by default. What I can't see is anything that clarifies if a), recipient has to download SAME app as me to view picture,
NO. Just e-mail the picture instead. To see it they will need either a PC or a smartphone connected either to WiFi or to mobile internet.& b) if I send a picture via my downloaded free app to avoid Plusnet charge can the recipient receive attached picture in a normal way as a text....not having to download same app as me to view it?
What's the point in wasting money on a smartphone not connected to the internet and at the same time to pay for 1Gb+ mobile data allowance?!I know it's stupid but GF & 2 of my pals have had issues/malware before & are incredibly wary of any download(s). However I can probably persuade them to leave WiFi on.0 -
The answer to your question is no. If you want to send messages to people, they all have to be on the same platform. Whatsapp, Facebook messenger, text messages, post (other person needs to have an address).
And not using WiFi is daft - you're using up your data allowance faster, and also draining your phone faster, as mobile data uses more power than WiFi. If there are security concerns, secure the network.0
