I feel left out when reading these threads. I don't think I've ever received any dodgy/unsolicited calls. I wonder how the scammers get the phone numbers in the first place... :-/

I wonder if it's random dialling.
My Mum has had her landline number for many years and doesn't generally give it out to companies.

I've recently signed her up to BT Call Protect.
She's not reported any nuisance calls so not sure if they've given up or it's working.

Yes, but only a couple a month. I always block the numbers but they just keep on coming.

Still getting a few from 'humans' as well, Microsoft & the latest is from something called Rebate, a refund of money for some unknown reason, seeing as they already knew my name & address I said great, send me a cheque! I'm rarely really rude though, they all appear to be calling from India & don't want my number on the 'early morning shift', given that that's before dawn here!

After Kangaroo's description of a call blocker, this is not irritating enough for me to be tempted to get one!
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

I tell them I will get my father and see how long I can stall. If I waste their time they can't be scamming someone else. :T

I get these calls quite frequently, previously they came from 'your internet service provider' now they're coming from 'BT'.

I'd love to waste their time, but I'm far to worried that if I'd used the option 'press one to talk to an engineer', I might get charged three or more quid per minute.

More likely you/him will be added to a list to be called endlessly day and night in retaliation by the scammers for trying to be clever.
Just put the phone down if I was you.

    Very unlikely.

They're out to make money, not mess around.
