Your BT Internet connection will be terminated

Anyone else receiving phone calls in the form of a recorded message where a female with an American accent states:

"Your BT Internet connection will be terminated tonight/within 24 hrs/within 48 hrs. Press 1 to ....." and I always hang up at that point.

Clearly a variation on the usual computer/internet "problem" scams, but whereas they only phoned every 6 weeks, this new one happens 2 or 3 times a week.

BTW I do not have BT Internet.

Finally, I am not complaining about having to answer unwanted phone calls, so do not need replies extolling the virtues or Truecall or similar

My parents & I have been getting these calls for many months.
Tried blocking the numbers but they just use a different number.
Very annoying.............

Always from a different spoofed number, and extremely annoying as they start at a time when I'm usually trying to get some sleep.

shop around for best price, this was just 1st advert i saw.

I NEVER get automated unsolicited calls any more, the auto-diallers these companies use can't get through the greeting messages.

Manual spam callers can't be bothered because they know you'll block them as soon as the phone announces who is calling (they go on hold and have to provide a reason for calling that you listen to before deciding to accept the call).

Easy fix - the only pain is programming in all your friends and family numbers so they get straight through.

I had better mention this to my parents as they do have BT internet and I don't want them falling for it.

I think that you also need a Specsavers visit as I can't see anything in the post from kangoora that was "extolling the virtues or Truecall or similar"

Landlines, screen all calls to voicemail, genuine callers will speak, mobiles, get a call blocking app that sends all calls except those from contacts to voicemail.

My elderly Mum gets these calls.


She doesn't have internet access from any provider. :rotfl:

Truecall is a call blocker. The OP doesn't want one. It's not difficult to understand.
