Please could anyone advise me about my rights with a faulty laptop?

I actually came to this forum to ask a basic question about my rights with the problems I have experienced with this laptop, which was answered quickly, and didn't really expect childish insults. I don't know how John Lewis were meant to access the laptop without the sign in PIN, and I couldn't find a way of removing it; however, whether or not the John Lewis technician is hopeing (sic) to grab my credit/debit card details doesn't concern me because, despite what you may think, I am not stupid enough to use the same PIN when the laptop is returned. I will be using the laptop for work, and so will not be using telephone banking or making online purchases from this computer in any event.

Just to give an update, John Lewis called me at lunchtime and confirmed that they have identified a fault with the laptop and have given me a full refund, so I couldn't be happier with the outcome. thank you to those who took the time to give constructive and helpful replies.
