Must add that my new trainers have had their first outing today. They are so comfy but oh my goodness they are noisy. It's really quiet where we live and I sound like a horse clip clopping along the road  :rotfl: Hoping it's some sort of coating they've put on the sole that will wear off.
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: You'd better not wear them to be a cat burglar :rotfl:Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Beanie and HHD - I know you've both got boys but not sure if they're football players - but imagine football boot studs on a wooden floor - that's me  I got them from the Zone shoe shop where I've always bought them from but honestly I've never had a pair like this. I found myself trying to tiptoe round while walking the dogs

We've heard back from the letting agency re DS3's guarantor situation TF2 and it sounds like we would be guaranteeing all the students in the house . They said if one student defaults they would chase the other students and ALL of the parent guarantors for the money . We're not too happy about that so may not be able to sign it
. We're just waiting for them to send the paperwork so we can read it.

Blimey HHD, I know for a fact I wouldn't be signing that
DD's clearly stated she was responsible for the rent for her room only, there are 3 rooms in the house and each lease has a room number on it.
Reading her lease through it's not even just a case of people defaulting. DD's states that the lease is for a full year and that if she leaves the course or is ill, it still has to be paid, unless the landlord agrees otherwise.
I can't imagine any parents being happy to sign the lease you DS has been givenxx

No I'm definitely not happy to sign that
. I wonder if the other parents would be willing to sign it! So we may have to say no
. The other possibility is if DS3 paid six months rent in advance which would be £3,000 .
Your DD's lease sounds much better and I'd sign that one. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I can't imagine anybody being willing to sign something like that tbh. Would the £3,000 in advance be for a different property with a different lease or does it mean you wouldn't be under any obligation to guarantee other student's payments.
It's a minefield isn't it. I really hope DD likes where she is and they all get on and can stay there for their 3rd year. It's all a big faff that everybody can do without. xx0 -
Blimey HHD that would be a big no from me too.
A thousand quid a month for rent. Blimey.
Teafor2~~I think that most student leases are similar to your DD's & say you have to pay for the year if anything happens.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. Oops my mistake, the £3,000 would be six months rent in advance
. The rent would be £500 a month plus bills, which is bad enough. We wouldn't have to be guarantors if DS3 could pay six months rent in advance. I'm not sure if DS3 would be liable for anything, we'd need to read the agreement.

Yes hopefully DD and her housemates will all get on and will want to stay there for a whole year and nobody will drop out etc. It is a bit of a mind boggling stressfest I must say! Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
