I know exactly how all of our mice get in. They get carried in through the catflap.

Then the flippin' cat puts 'em down, a brief bit of squeek-bang-thump, and the mouse escapes or the cat gets distracted.

We had a cat like that. The mouse usually ended up under the fridge.
  • I managed to get rid of mice from my cellar by putting down traps, but they are really crafty and managed to get the bait. The best thing you can do is buy the blocks of poison, they don't kill them straight away and they love the taste so take them back to the nest and so they all eat them and die. They dehydrate them so they go to find water, not dying in your house and making it smell :)

What a horrible way to die.

There are more humane ways to get mice out of the house that don't cause that level of suffering.

I must have been lucky. I had a cat who eat them, tail an all. I miss that cat.
  • Update! Caught it last night/ this morning. Hope that was the only one. My house is timber framed so I think it got In through the kitchen (there's a massive gap that they didn't put s cupboard in. Don't ask) but running up the inside wall to the attic... that's my theory anyway. I'll know in a few hours if it was just one.

The poor bleedin' homeless mice were likely evicted from their happy rural home by the wicked builder when he chucked-up these speculative "new-build" boxes.

They just want to carry on living in their old home. That you've bought a pile of bricks 'n stuff on top of their old abode is but some form of kharma...
Think Poltergeist with mice instead of ghosts.
  • We had mice in our attic and my husband ended up putting his leg through the ceiling ...
  • squirrels are just as bad, if not worse, we used to see them climb up a townhouse wall to a top floor, neighbour. Husband went up and filled all the entry points, thankfully we were still clear
