When they're available (which is most of the time), these are a bargain IMO https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/257440217
We find there's more chicken in the Tesco own-label tins than in the dearer ones with the Prince's label on. We normally eat 'em hot, but they're delicious cold - especially if you want to rekindle memories of wedding receptions with chicken vol-au-vent canapés ...We're all doomed8 -

You can add a few things to a cold rice base for a salad that you might not eat cold by themselves like tinned peas, mushrooms, beans. Red kidney beans go nicely mixed with tuna (and onion). Spam (well I like it), and as @maryb says, pate - i've got a tin and a jar that are bbe 2025, chestnuts...

I am a meat eater but a bit fussy about the quality of the meat, especially corned beef etc. Would rather eat vegetarian if the meat is on the gristly side….
so far I have tinned tuna, sardines, mackerel, tinned tomatoes, baked beans (though cold beans might be pushing it). Have nuts and raisins. Plan on getting tinned potatoes, sweetcorn, carrots, and veg curry tins. Most of my cupboard stocks seem reliant on at least having boiling water (eg pasta, noodles, etc) or need a microwave.Have oats, so could cold soak those.I do have a full freezer (mixture of raw and cooked foods) but want to have a backup plan in case of electricity failure - though I know the freezer will be ok for some hours if not opened.
John west do a tuna lunch on the go range which are in foil trays - the one i have in the cupboard is good till june 24. Range includes Mediterranean and French pasta salads, mexican bean salad and mild curry rice salad
Lots of different tinned and dried fruit
Personally i like cold custard, (to go with the fruit) but that's not to everyones taste
some soups would be ok cold

I like cold baked beans from the tin! But maybe I am weird!
Lidl also so a tuna lunch , Mexican style, salad etc which I use for packed lunches.
You can get quality pates in tins, I was given wild boar and venison pate in tins as some one did not fancy eating them. I must admit I am a bit iffy about tinned hotdogs etc but I have tried the chicken in white wine and that was fine. There is also beef curry and meatballs in sauce in tins. I think it is a case of buying one and finding what you like or not!
I think it also depends on what situation you are in. If it is just a power cut then cold from the packet would be ok , maybe in a wrap with salad. If it is a SHTF situation/survival the dog food is fine!!

cold beans straight from the can are nicer than the heated version (imo). Corned beef isn't gristly, but it has shot up in price.I've always got a mix of beans and some basic tinned veg to add to other dishes and they'd be fine eaten cold. Tinned meat in sauces often contain stuff I'm not able to eat (gluten) and DH is allergic to fish so we don't bother on that score. Tinned hotdogs are a staple for a quick "add to beans" breakfast type affair but sliced up and added to some other stuff, they'd be fine cold (not sure I could eat one straight from the tin but if I was hungry I would).5

Definitely a range of tinned beans. Chickpeas make a good salad and taste completely different to beans.
Smaller jars of mayonnaise will keep OK except in hot weather and it can be used with tinned beans and tuna instead of oil and vinegar dressing, or better quality potatoes.
Red kidney beans are surprisingly good with thyme and coconut. Can be a hot dish, but OK cold if left to macerate. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing8 -
Thanks for the ideas… planning for potential power cut/financial issues or indeed any reason we may need to shelter at home (live in a flat so bonfires and bbq not possible). Prepayment meters sometimes run out when you least want them too!
Just want to have a potential plan for a few days, as that calms my worries.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?5 -

The cartridges are about £1.50 each when bought in multiples. A litre light weight saucepan with lid is dual purpose for water heating and food. Perfectly safe on a counter top. Open a nearby window a crack. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing10 -
