Having to self-isolate for a week with Covid I was very glad of my stocks and having flu remedy in. Do need to buy more night nurse though when I can get to a pharmacy.
Reading one of the prep groups on FB (very like this group - sensible and not sensational) someone mentioned dental hygiene / first aid. Thought I had added antibacterial mouthwash to the Mr M order but apparently not so will get that next week. Will order a replacement emergency filling repair kit - had to use one once and it was very good. Also need to order clove oil as I don't think I have any.

... I like the sound of the bread buns! Potato scones can also be an alternative to bread for some things. I use instant mash.a way of using it up would be great!

I've been playing with the wind up electricity charger for a couple of days now, and my suspicions have been confirmed. It takes an awful lot of winding to get anything useful out of it. I'd like to connect it up to a stationary bike somehow, and use foot power to run it, rather than arm power. It's doable, but I don't have the technical skill to ensure that everything is correctly aligned - a millimeter out can cause the rotating arm to wear against the other components. It also takes a lot of time to get a useful amount if charge into the battery. I'm glad I have it, in that it's a way to put charge into a battery, should the need arise. I hope I don't have to use it much, though. A solar charger does the same thing without any kind of input from me.The unit I have claims a 20w output. It doesn't state how many revolutions per second you need to do to achieve that, which is a glaring omission. I tried using the USB output, set to 5v, to charge my phone. I got a peak of about 800ma at less than 4v with an average of about 350ma. Figuring I'd take a risk, I turned it up to 6v (this is above USB standard and is not something your phone can handle - always set the voltage correctly for the appliance being charged!) and got over 1000ma at 4.3v.With a given output of a device, in this case 20w, increasing the voltage will reduce the amps. 20w / 5v = 4a. 20w / 12v = 1.6a. What happened to me was increasing the voltage increased the amps, meaning that this is a variable output unit - setting the voltage higher means that the current can be higher. In some ways, that's great - more energy. Putting 12v through a 5v unit will lead to damage, though.13

Instant mash is another thing that seems to have disappeared from supermarket basic ranges.15 -

Btw thank you Ladonthehill, I think :-) I have a solar charger for my phone thank fully as I had not a clue what you were explaining! Anyone else understand or am I the only thick one? :-)

It's not you being thick. We all have things that we don't understand.Basically, a wind up charger is hard work. A solar charger does the work for you.14

well i tested positive for covid in night, had woken with a fever and cough, which has gotten worse throughout morning. I am not even thinking about my health, but stressed because been helping my parents move house this last few days, and dad has blood cancer and has daily chemo. I have no energy to do anything other than boil kettle and pour over something, can't even face the microwave. So wishing part of my prep had included cup a soup type stuff! I am drinking Bovril, warm enough to ease my throat, but need to keep a couple of jars as that in cupboard as this one wont be lasting long! I am considering lemon and honey, but that requires the energy to open fridge cut and squeeze lemon, find honey! and that is beyond me today, even struggled opening cat food! (kids have come down with it as well but they are asleep!12

I was looking up potato flour on Google and found a method for making your own. It starts off "First of all you'll need potatoes".11 -
Sorry to hear that Grace, hope you feel better soon11
