RAS this sounds like something my late DF used to describe from his youth, known as a 'Wet Nelly'. He grew up in Lancashire, post WWI, and just about got tears in his eyes describing it. A case of hunger makes the best sauce?11

Media is at it again "What's in short supply and why?" cars, fuel, milk, meat, toys nearer to Christmas and apparently Christmas trees as 1m - 3m imported, how many millions will have a dead Christmas tree on Christmas day where they panic bought it early! I had best drag the plastic one down from the loft again.13

Half of Scotland is covered in xmas trees, that's nonsense. They do love to make life one frantic mad panic don't they? No wonder people are stressed to hell.

Woo hoo! Tesco order came ten minutes ago, et voilà ...They appeared on the site yesterday. That's £3.00 spent out of the festive season budget, and we've already got the custard so that's Yule and New Year's Eve taken care of. All we need now is a few bags of lebkuchen for my Lady Wife when they get them in, and that's it for 2021Anyhow, ref BT changing everybody over to the interwebs whether we like it or not, here's the official blurb, from which I learn that the reason why is because it's better. Apparently. We're all doomed14

Sounds like change for change's sake. Or more likely there's some nefarious reason. I have to say I don't like talking to people on mobiles due to the time lag.

No wonder people are stressed to hell.I have a number of those grown in Scotland with roots christmas trees Mar. Now planted in the back garden when they grew too big to get indoors. One of the rare years we get snow it was like a winter wonderland out there.I didn't bother with trees and decorations last Christmas youngest dd was very ill still shielding with her boyfriend under Drs orders and none of the family " Hugged the family for Christmas" I'm afraid we don't listen to BJ but the scientists, doctors and those in the know. We were a bubble so did see each other just before the day with presents, masks and still keeping our distance. After Christmas the figures shot up here again with the latest varient.I'm a Man U fan and would love to be back at Old Trafford but I do think opening up to full crowds is a big mistake. So many people many unmasked singing and shouting as in normal times while players whether playing here are abroad are testing positive.I'm not going to be stressing about Christmas dinner. It's years since we've eaten poultry preferring a boned out leg of lamb. You can eat anything if you can get it and the sky wont fall. I'm also mindful of those who will be in the heat or eat situation through Autumn and Winter. Including those with children , the ill and the elderly.pollyx

I'm a Lancashire Lass and remember Wet Nelly's however my mum used to make them with Sultanas and Candied peel because I didn't like currants and raisins. Decades on I still don't.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
