Last Monday I received a prescription for a bladder infection at a phone consultation. They gave me ten tablets, which would last until Friday evening. (96p per tablet!) I was told to allow two days after finishing the course. The tablet box held 14 tablets, but they removed four of them. Why?I was in pain all week but started feeling better at the weekend. However, yesterday I started getting bad again, but was told to ring tomorrow. I've been to the loo every hour tonight. I still have to wait until 8am before I can ring for a telephone appointment, so might get some more tablets if I'm lucky by lunchtime. Why are the NHS so mean with tablets nowadays? I realise this is to avoid germs getting resistant to antibiotics, but it's getting ridiculous.

Ouch jk0, i hope you've been able to get a telephone appointment. Water with bicarb in it will ease the pain in the meantime. GWS.13

That's awful, jk0, and when they don't give you enough to kill the bug, it makes our overall situation worse! Hope you get more tablets today.2023: the year I get to buy a car13

That gap though while you wait for more pills just lets the bug grow stronger, you;d think they would realise that!

Potentially because the drug is only permitted to be prescribed in a certain amount for certain ailments. It may also be that there are different bugs causing your infection, which may need different drugs.
That’s not medical advice BTW.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Thanks All.I've spoken to a different doctor today. She couldn't understand why I'd only been given ten tablets, as she says the standard dose is fourteen.I now have some soluble antibiotic to dissolve in water, but that's even more pricey. I've just paid £9.60 for one dose, and will not receive any more until they have my urine test results.I suppose they've got to pay for c***d somehow.13

Move up here jk0, we don't pay anything for prescriptions.
