This forum is a mine of useful information, isn't it?
THe calf at foot dairy page is very interesting indeed, I recommend you go and have a read of it. Love the concept of fiona the owner. Am very tempted to get some of the beef.I wanna be in the room where it happens11 -
Down here we have the Open Air Dairy which I often see alongside the road when I'm going to visit the family down west. The cows do seem to love it and everyone loves the cheese, which is stocked in local shops and on the market. We also have a number of "milk machines" dotted around where we can buy locally-produced milk in glass bottles that we can wash out & re-use. However, we have our milk delivered, not because I don't want to use the machines, but because OH, as a previous member of the emergency services, is a huge supporter of regular deliveries of milk, newspapers etc.; as he says, those guys are the first to see when something's wrong. A smashed window, an open door at 4am, a leg seen on the floor through a letterbox, wilted plants, dogs howling, that sort of thing. Part of the glue that holds society together, in his view.Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)24

Have fun, @daz378! I'm off dancing in Torquay this weekend, which I am looking forward to very much, even though we can't do half of what we normally do; performances are limited to groups of 6, no ad-hoc dancing, no late-nite disco. But we can still take part in workshops and learn a lot, which is kind of the point of being there, and we get a show from the professionals who do the workshops, and that's always amazing.
It's been the most exhausting week. We had a very good offer for Mum's bungalow last Wednesday, from a cash buyer, on condition we could get the transaction through by this Wednesday! Not just because of the SDLT, I gather the buyer has a new job they needed to be closer to, and had lost a property due to a chain collapse, as had also happened with the bungalow. Legally it was possible, because the paperwork was all ready to roll, but we hadn't cleared it of Mum's belongings, mostly because the estate agents wanted it to look lived-in. Plus I was out trading on Sunday for the first time since lockdown. So we've been going flat out "rescuing" & just plain removing things. My conservatory has filled up again... but it's not going to stay that way for long this time. I'm only going to keep a few small & precious things, I don't want to be weighed down with possessions! Some bits have already been re-homed and more are well on their way, so I reckon a weekend "off" is just what the doctor ordered!
ETA: the sale completed yesterday, a day early. It's amazing what the lawyers can do when they put their minds to it...Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)18 -

euronorris said:@maryb I have a polystyrene type milk carrier/holder thing that insulates the milk and keeps it cool enough until I bring it in at 6.30am (he often delivers between 11pm and 1am).Ha. I'd been having Milk&More deliver for the last ten years until last week. Despite my leaving a box with ice packs for the milk, it has been going off before I can use it. I received an email the other day saying that I might receive my milk later due to my milkman having a new handset. I think I'm at the end of his route now, so the milk was getting warm all night as he trundled round Berkshire.
I'm now resigned to buying in plastic again.

I've just come back myself from a 4 day trip, to Somerset. No karaoke, but we did get a paddle in the sea
it was lovely! It definitely showed me that with care a bit of a holiday can be safely managed.
