It's hard @thriftwizard . Hopefully you will get a call soon. My MIL had hers last week and she is 66. And my high risk niece, 17, got called for hers at the weekend (but now has to go back as turns out they won't give the astrazeneca one to under 18s). They are at opposite sides of the country (one in Somerset, one in Kent - close to London), so hopefully a good sign that you won't have to wait much longer in your neck of the woods. I checked out the omni calculator at the weekend, and it seems to lump everyone 50 and under (with no high risk factors) in one boat and estimates that we will have had our first jab between mid May and late June. Fingers crossed, as that is a lot earlier than the first estimations.Daz, I hope the pain eases soon! Sounds horrid!February wins: Theatre tickets16

I was surprised to be offered my jab last week by text as I am 67 and was expecting to have it in March, but the second jab is eleven weeks away so really it will be 3 months before immunity is optimised. I get the impression that the vaccination service will absolutely romp away now.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

Got a dilemma here. My carer’s mum very sadly passed away a couple of days ago, so he’s busy making the funeral/wake arrangements, with about 15 people invited. It all happened so quickly that I half forgot about covid, but now I’m freaking out as clinically vulnerable, prone to getting very ill even with mild infections, and not due the jab til next month.
My main worry is that at least a couple of the relatives are quite hot headed anti mask/libertarian types who have not been staying indoors and tend to act out when frustrated. One of them made an actual lunge at the doctor when she explained the hospital wouldn’t be able to resuscitate a second time, and has been making late night facebook posts about hitting the bottle.Normally I’d just smile politely and inwardly eye roll, but these tw*ts could well be dangerous atm, so what should I do? Don’t feel I can flake out as carer’s mum was a dear lady who was v.kind to me and I 100% want to support MC, but am really frightened that one of us could get ill :-/12 -
Are you thinking of attending? I wouldn't. There are other ways of supporting your carer through his loss.He will have to attend but as a carer I'd imagine he's well up to speed on risk management, infection protocols, masks and SD and the venue will also be subject to the rules so hopefully that will help him minimise the risks to himself and his clients.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”14

Hey thank you so much, you’re absolutely right of course. MC’s brain is fried as he’s executor and was much closer to mum than the siblings, so I won’t raise it straight away but I’m sure he’ll be more than understanding. And would definitely appreciate it if I sent some flowers in absentia, with maybe the possibility of meeting for a socially distanced outdoor coffee with his daughter and her boyfriend afterwards? They’re both very sensible and had the vaccine a couple of weeks ago as GP surgery bank staff, but even so what crazy times ehSerendipitious said:Are you thinking of attending? I wouldn't. I've been taking it slow and resting as much as possible, but the reality is I have to return to work on Friday. I need the money, SSP is pretty low, but yes, better than nothing so I am grateful it exists. I have been offered the first jab on Saturday as a carer and front line worker, but My partners mum is spitting feathers that I get mine before her 70-year-old husband and as I've already had covid, surely I don't need it !!!,( she has had hers being clinically vulnerable) and can I get her to understand the reasoning behind it? can I heck as like !! oh well, onwards and upwards.
prepping includes a hello fr*sh meal deal for next week of 6 meals delivered for £6,99 using deals and vouchors, so some lovely foods to try, already prepped and no need to shop for my first full week back at work.
onwards with a smile and kindness my fellow preppers.x

Tell her it's not impossible to ctch it twice and rather safe than sorry that you won't then be taking it to other 70 year olds like her hudband who are in care and vulnerable.

I thought 70 year olds + had to contact the nhs for their jab if they hadn't been invited yet. I'm sure that was what they said the other day on the news.
Sorry if I've misunderstood. Maybe he has an appointment but it's after you get yours, @cornishchick. I'd have thought he'd be glad to get it whenever it is!

They definitely put a call out for the over 70s to chase for a jab if they hadn't yet had one. Probably to make sure no one slipped through the net, or missed it through circumstance when first asked. I wouldn't pay much mind to your partner's mum spitting feathers about it. I'm sure she knows you have no control over it, but I think the anxiety, fear and effects of lockdown mean people are much more easily upset at the moment. Sorry you're on the receiving end of it though. Try and take things as slowly and carefully as you can Cornishchick (easier said than done, I know).
