Lovely to read of the soon to be grandparents. A lovely ray of sunshine in the dark days of winter.I have had a Liberty obseession since long before you could pick it up online or in charity shops or craft fairs. Back in the day I used to have a liberty savings pot to buy from them direct.I've picked up many bargains in Liberty fabric since in charity shops etc. I have trimmed coat sleeves with my favourites and cardigans - I covered the buttons too. Since some old designs are again available I've had many a walk down memory lane. You've probably still got vintage knitting patterns. I kept a lot dating back to 1969 when I was expecting offspring no1. One particular one has been knitted countless times for my children ,gc and various family and friends. This is why prepping needs include craft stashes , knitting and sewing patters etc and loads of books.I am missing the last of my old Singers - the treadle one I didn't have adapted but it's not practical now the joints and muscles are flaring often. I have many happy memories though. On the vaccine appts. The Rheumo,Osteo, and Fibro have been flaring badly. I often struggle to sleep in winter. Recently it's been harder and harder to get any sleep, I've just had four days without so much as catching a nap.Tuesday the surgery rang on the Landline to offer me an appt for my 1st jab at the hub all local GPs are using. I had to say I was in too much pain and barely mobile to guarantee I could manage the journey there and back. Practice manager asked me to ring next week and she'd try to find a slot. She rang today instead and offered one late afternoon this Saturday and I had to tell her I didn't want to be unable to attend and have to cancel while somone else could have had their jab. So I've to ring her next week and she'll try again. Thankfully I've been a patient there since the 70s and youngest would normally be face to face with her Superdoc every other Friday so we're part of the furniture. I've always rung if dd was too ill to make it to the surgery etc. It's nearly a year since we were last there after Superdoc ordered her to stay indoors but it's kept her safe.Take care everyone. If anyone is having sleep issues . I looked up Insomnia on the NHS website. never had to do that before . Some good advice re caffeine etc but nothing I wasn't already aware of. I then noticed elsewhere Coronasomnia and that makes sense. It's not rocket science but pretty well change in normal rouitne and many other things which knock the "Circadian Rythyms out of whack. We're all living a different norm in various ways so it's not just pain that's keeping me awake but having to read up on various things ,make sure youngest is ok and copingWe're in the area where a case of the SA varient has been found . We're nowhere near it but the local council messed up the info on their website so noone knew at first what was happening . They gave the postcode which is mine ignoring the fact it was in a different postcode so it read that door to door testing would be done in our little bit. I was involved a lot in local politics over the years so in the end I looked up the electoral wards and it's covered by two postcodes. The main part is the different postcode and a tiny bit is on the edge of ours. So giving the wrong postcode had caused mayhem. Nothing seems clearcut a lot of the time now.In theory I should be so tired with all the Googling I'll fall asleep when I hit the bed but so far not happening.Apologies for the long post, skip past if you like.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.15 -

I had my Astra Zeneca vaccine this morning, very safe, very well organised queuing and very slick organisation when in the building, waited seconds and was called, few questions and a painless vaccination, in the building less than 2 minutes from start to finish. Our NHS is WONDERFUL!!! It's another bit of prepping done for a future I wasn't sure we'd actually have this time round and the relief I'm currently feeling is lovely. News article too that brings hope that in Israel they're to second stage trial with a new drug that is inhaled and is likely to prevent the problems from happening when immune systems go into overdrive and is trialled in people with moderate to severe covid symptoms. Lots happening tat will hopefully help us bac to something approaching normality.16

I had mine this morning too. Quite enjoyed the experience as since last March I have had few outings (sad!!)
Journey was a bit hair raising, due to ice on roads and patchy mist. And the Baltic Beast not even here yet!15 -
When is the Baltic Beast due to hit us? It's a lovely sunny spring morning here, cooler than of late but not actually cold yet.Angie - GC Aug25: £207.73/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)13
