Some snow still lying though.I've juest realised this has nothign whatever to do with Prepping thoughIt is a form of prepping Mar. You are guarding your mental health and wellbeing and that's needed right now.I had to do the town pharmacy a few hours ago. Utter nightmare. I'm so tired of asking them to check everything is there. Two missing. Pharmacist did suggest as dd is still under Shielding they can deliver. Already tried that a few months ago two important meds missing and a week of Dr Practise Manager and myself trying to track them down. It wouldn't help dds anxiety.I hope noone here suffered from the storm. Rain water came half way up to the very high threshold but thankful only the windy weather robbed me of a couple of nighs sleep.pollyx

Failed the "fit to work" screen midshift. Got a swab rammed up my nose by a coworker and sent home to isolate. Then I had to cancel a drs appointment because of the swab. The dr. called mid afternoon with the good news that I wasn't a Celiac but extremely sensitive to milk, egg whites and peanuts and that he's referred me off to a GI (who I know) and to an allergist for further testing.
Have had to cancel WonderCollie's well dog visit tomorrow because of me. Not that I'm allowed in the animal hospital, they keep the human in the parking lot and take in the canine with a note attached to their collar! The dr. will then either call you or come to the door and talk at you.
And the final icing on the cake? My first Covid vaccination was cancelled to the factory revamp in Belgium. Nope, I'm over 60 and a working nurse. My shot has been delayed so that over 60s can have their shot and those who managed to get their first dose can get their second dose. I guess I'm not as important as an over 60 on a pension.
Oh and pulse oximeter? Normal O2 levels are 92% and above. As long as your lips aren't blue, and your nailbeds are pink you are fine
I was advised not to get a pulse oximeter by my GP as there is a danger (and I see this on the long covid support groups) that you can sit and watch it and get obsessed. However, I can see that for VJs mum's daughter it can be reassuring. I use work to distract me, but did actually pay attention today when i realised my fingers were white, nails blue and I had pins and needles. Took a photo (I'm learning...), washed my hands in warm water which made no difference, then called my GP brother. Raynaud's phenomenon (not disease). No reason for it - for a start I've already been warned about getting cold so the house is (to me, and for MSE regulars) tropical AND I'm wearing thermals, and wear fingerless mittens much of the time due to long-covid arthralgia. So another long-covid symptom. It's gone now (not without making itself felt) and I've been reminded that I need to call my surgery and ask for a long-covid clinic referral.
Once again, I'd like to unsubscribe from symptom of the week club please...12 -
Kimchi is lovely - we were hooked a long time ago when our neighbours hosted a Korean youth group for some weeks - and we've made it on & off ever since. Lacto-fermenting in general is a brilliant way of preserving (in the shorter term; it's not good for long-term storage like dehydrating or canning) as the process makes nutrients more bio-available and the food easier to digest, as well as delicious. Got home and found they had given me someone elses meds - Oxybutynin instead of my inhaler! But me and the other person did have the same name so that's alright then
. I reckoned sniffing the Oybutyinin wouldn't do me much good (though I do have some bladder weakness) so I phoned them and said someone would have to come out. I'm shielding anyway.
They are extra rigorous now when checking details. I guess someone got a rocket.

As long as your lips aren't blue, and your nailbeds are pink you are fineYes I was obsessed initially and would even sleep with one by the bedside. But I rarely check now. In fact I use it more for pulse rate as my heart has also been affected. A worthwhile bit of kit in my case - it got me an ambulance call out and a hospital assessment and I can now list cardiology under my list of 'ology' consultants ...

They are extra rigorous now when checking details. I guess someone got a rocket.Youngest has two inhalers and Oxybutynin among her monthly repeats . We had problems with the inhalers early last year . No idea how but it seemed people with no need of Inhalers were somehow getting GPs prescriptions claiming breathlessness etc . No asthma or other diagnosis. Our GP would have shown them the door. It was the focus on breathing and Covid that prompted it.A recent pharmacy problem was going back yet again to inform them Oxybutynin was missing . The phamacist I'd never seen before insisted it had been given but it hadn't.A poster over on The Garden Fence who works in a pharmacy was very helpful. meds were in tiny bags in a big bag unlike the normal big bag . They were being collected in front of me from various trays. It seems each tiny bag had a code unique to dd and two pharmacists should cross check to see all are present and correct.I realised the screen they've always looked at for decades which has dds meds and history on had been blank for months. They turned it on a few months ago to check and actually got everything right. It's hit and miss now. Sometimes it's like high noon in there. We never did get that Oxybutynin that was missing.Three different people have had a rocket over the past year but none of the regulars are there now. Just different new faces.I did have a lovely pharmacist a few months ago who emptied the bag and checked every one. Not seen her since . They seem to be rotating staff around branches.Thankfully the little bags are no more and apart from those in the cupboard all the rest are packs and boxes. Looking at the little bags each matching code relating to dd.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

They sometimes rest up at Wharton Floss as do the Red Arrows. I've been to the air show a few times but often stood in the back garden watching all the planes flying in. The arrows fly so high we could see most of the display. When the two arrows fly out and then go back to cross each other they used to fly over here and turn back, one shot down the side of my house once and i could see his face.Sometimes both stayed over at Woodvale.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
