Serendipitious said:I don't mean to come across as a bit precious, I became hyper-aware of potential aerosol spread at my previous place which had lifts and shared corridors. But it seems to me there should be a bit of guidance for the mask-exempt folk, maybe they could at least keep their mouths closed while in-store. I really feel for retail staff.
Mar/Ming, (couldn't resist!) I was just reading that article. Very, very bad news.

Not precious at all Serendipitous. And completely understandable. This pandemic has changed how many of us view things. I've noticed that I visibly wince when watching films or TV episodes with crowds or lots of people hugging. They were all filmed pre pandemic, but I'm now conditioned to see that and recoil. I have to remind myself that it's a) not real and b) the normality we are trying to get back to.February wins: Theatre tickets13

Thanks all. In the old flat, being halfway up the block, and being poorly insulated, you could often hear unmuffled coughs and sneezes coming from elsewhere, so even before the virus hit I would often use a scarf in winter or a clean tissue in summer to cover nose/mouth in the lift. Then in March someone kindly made me a fabric face covering. I used to think of going in and out of the flat as 'running the gauntlet.'Glad you have a vaccine appt Daz.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”15

Is it still just for the one jab at the moment?
with only 33% efficacy when the second jab is given at 12 weeks instead of 3, I’m really doubting whether having a job is going to make much of a difference to some of us. I feel that with the level of shielding that the extremely clinically vulnerable will still have to do, it might be worth giving key workers their two doses as per the manufacturers instructions in order for them to do their jobs safely16 -
Shop-work has always been a job where you need to be able to cope with rude and selfish people, usually only a small percentage but if you’re feeling stressed and worried it will grind you down. I’m 59 and have done shop-work all my working life and have grown quite a thick skin but have been brought to tears by rude customers during the pandemic so I feel for the youngsters having to work in these conditions.

Here's a bit of weird luck today:The other day I added a twin pack of Kleenex extra large tissues costing £3, to an Amazon order, to make it up to the £20 free delivery level. I've just been out to put out the dustbin and found an enormous box labelled 'Kleenex'. For some reason, they have sent me 32 packs of tissues, and as far as I can see only charged the £3. I guess I won't need to buy any more for the next year.20
