Brilliant post as usual mothernerd. I still haven't remembered the stopping glasses steaming up advice. If all else fails I'll go back to the original thread to see if I can find it.pollyxPS The Strawbridges had a son and a daughter not two sons. I've looked at my hardcover from 2006. I enjoyed the series and book but skipped sections when they tried to be environmental aware and some other things. I was already a campaignerfor the environment so nothing to learn there. Like GQ I was a toddler on the grandads allotment , my dad had one too and they had chickens etc at home.I too learned about poison plants. I was quickly grabbed one day as I went to tranfer bright blue flowers from my little seaside bucket into my mouth.Making your own greenhouses was interesting as was building a water wheel- I never got around to that there's enough water in this area as it is.I bought it out of curiosity and to support their trying to get a message out when everything way buy ,buy ,buy.Looked at the big bookseller Hardcover New From £40.01 mine was £9'99. PB dearer than it was. Kindle £4.99. There are cheaper used ones.BTW The Strawbridger weren't as poor as church mice but they did highlight a different way of living and via tv and the book changed peoples habits.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Not good but getting it out there means it's not hidden whether announced here or not. Twitter and others picked it up.pretty quickly.Apologies to all for todays typos. Finally got round to buying a new pair of Arthritis gloves on Friday, forgot I had them until Sunday then lost track of them both yesterday and today after putting them down "somewhere" now considering sewing them onto tape or ribbon as I used to do with the childrens mitts and gloves and threading them through my sleeves. It must be about a year since my last pair finally fell apart so not used to having them for a long time.pollyx

And for the ones upthread - Clanadonia......just sayin......Oh Clanadonia. Also the memory of how many Irish joined the NYPD . Seeing them marching together was quite a sight. I've never been sure if the tales of KIlted Scottish soldiers and the bagpipes heading towards the enemy during both world wars was true and the sight really did scare the enemy away. All my grandparents were from the Irish republic before crossing the Irish Sea. There are a high number of redheads over the generations. Some research suggested Scandi origins most likely the Vikings who invaded Scotland , England and Ireland . Every family member I met since a child was either red hair or strawberry blonde with blue eyes. The only exception is my middle dd who has very pale blond hair.pollyx

I also remember It’s Not Easy Being Green. Loved it. Have never watched his new series though.Thinking of all NHS workers here xNHS and everyone turning into work to keep things running in many areas of day to day life are going to be among the mental health fallout I mentioned and probably physical health too. It is impossible to deal with what's going on day by day and come out of it the without damage. The NHS were struggling before this began and I worry for the survival of the safety net that's been there for us all from the cradle to the grave.I follow a wonderful young Dr online. He has kept up lots of good advice, initially washing hands etc but then things like which vitamins whare best with lack of sunshine, helping the immune system etc. He doesn't go for the famous expensive brands but those which are helpul and within budgets. He talks of many things and a while ago started a campaign to fund slow cookers for those struggling and then to get food to those in need.I find him inspiring. He puts positives rather than negatives . That's needed at the moment.pollyx

Interestingly enough I had a call from my GP last week and not remembering much but seems I have signed up for a treatment trial,, I am getting to test an inhaler for treating the C19 symptoms.today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.
Living on my memories, making new ones.
