In the last few weeks I've been hanging out in alternate future-variants imagined by Bill Gibson. My sister, deciding I need more drama in my life (Really?!), suggested Falco & was a bit blindsided to find out I have all 20 in kindle form plus the 5 Flavia books. Also when I want completely crazy drama, I head for opera... Mind, when I start pencilling the "finally went for my jab & there was Boris" aria, I suddenly start channelling Tosca. The "Stern Word aria" could be amusing.
Almost deliberately misunderstanding - covid marshals in hi vis tabards & kilts - it could only improve uptake, surely? As frankly what triggers the phwoar response faster than a kilt, if not exquisite chaps tailoring (which dashed few chaps go in for, sniff)
I like staying home "til the blight is purged from these lands" but it's very hard to cast last year as any kind of heroic epic saga as there were too many moments of high outrage (oddly that they were massively ineffectual doesn't detract from the storytelling) & too many deaths.
DEAR ME - INCOMING WEATHER Please make time to check the met forecast for you this week?.15 -
Your mention of kilts .... yesterday on a Scots gardening forum they were all talking about a new tv series on BBC Alba. It's a guy renovating his garden in a Glasgow flat. In Gaelic. I dont speak Gaelic, wish I did, but there are subtitles. So half the group ran off to warch it and came back hooked. I had a look and even I'm now hooked. The fascination of watching one youngish fit bearded guy on his own, hacking and digging at a horrible neglected difficult garden & talking to the camera in Gaelic throughout - is amazing17

For anyone suddenly yearning for a kilt fix but not sure where to start may I suggest the kilted coaches? Who are good lads & wear the kilt well. (Once you're in YouTube, other kilts will mysteriously become available (the algorithms, I'm told) please enjoy responsibly.)19

Mar what is the name of the programme please? We often watch BBC Alba, with subs, DH is deaf, so always uses subs and I've got used to them and enjoy picking up a few foreign phrases (due to TV's emphasis on crime, mostly profane I'm afraid).19

I oftrn wish I could get BBC Scotland . Some things there I'd like to watch.Just had to log in again. Does anyone else find their brain freezes when that happens?Very dreich morning here but thankful our local health trust are beginning to contact the over 70s and extremely clinically vulnerable re the vaccine together. That's youngest and myself on our way. I've been needle phobic all my life unlike dd who's like an over used pin cushion but I'm looking forward to it!pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Oh thanks for that Mar. I don't understand a word of Gaelic but nothing wrong with just watching. Both my grandfathers could speak the old Irish, I never understood a word but it was lovely to listen to them chatting away on the Allotments.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

The house next door to me has an Irish gardener, who chats continually to my neighbour. I can't even understand when presumably he's speaking English.
