Mrs_Salad_Dodger said:Another who would like the no-knead fridge bread recipe. Thank youCheck out the "Jenny Can Cook" ones on YouTube. I've been using one of her no-knead methods for months now modified slightly to make my patent denture-friendly non-crusty slightly gooey wholemeal spelt breadAnyhow, while I'm at it, I hereby announce that having started this year's preserving on May 23rd, we've today put The Book away now until next year. Normally we know exactly how much of what we've done, but with there now being so much stuff in this house, we've been tucking jars here and there alles uber der Platz so we've lost count.Best estimate this year is something like 370 jars of fruit and veg, 80-90 jars of jam, plus the cucumber relish and the blackberry syrup ...ETA - and six varieties of dried beans!DigForVictory said:I should not covet, but shall go Kermit green & drool gently over here.In case it's of any use to you to know, those three are on M27 rootstock and are currently lovely little two year-old trees about 4ft high with about the same spread. They're from Keeper's Nursey (where we always go for top fruit) and only in their second year, but they're each bearing around a dozen lovely big applesWe're all doomed17

It's the Mortgage Free in Three recipe I use. But have adapted slightly.
500 gram bread/ plain flour
1 teaspoon yeast.
1 teaspoon sugar
400 mls warm water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon oil
Flour and salt in a bowl, mix together.
Sugar and yeast in warm water, leave for 10 minutes to get going.
Then add yeasty water and oil to the flour, mix together and leave to rise for an hour.
I then put it in a tub twice as big as the dough and leave in the fridge till needed, but you can leave it on the counter top if your baking it the next day.
Then I tip it out and shape it, flour the top and cook at 200 c for 40 mins.
I find the flour keeps the top softer and the dough can life in the fridge happily for up to 10 days.

I really wish I could have apple trees, we're above the tree line here. Neighbours have tried forever and say they just don't fruit. Berries do well though.

boultdj thanks for the bread recipe. I have a bread maker as I can't knead anymore, but this is good for a back up if it breaks down. Thanks.
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12 -
