I got majority of DDs school uniform from Lidl a few weeks back. Went first thing in the morning, when it went on sale. Was a weekday and nice and quiet at that time. A few summer dresses and socks, tights and shoes from Asda, bought online. Lidl sizing was weird though. Smallest was 4-6, which was perfect in the polo shirts, and fine in the tunics, but both the skirts and trousers were too big around the waist. Trousers also too long. The skirts were adjustable, so that was fine. But have had to take up the trousers, and add buttonhole elastic and a few buttons to the trousers to make them fit better. The branded cardigans arrived a couple weeks back too, so we are all set on thag front.
I managed to grab myself a reduced bento box for my lunch, now I'll be going back to the office a few days a week. The plan is to avoid all need to buy anything for lunch. I'm a bit apprehensive, but I'm also looking forward to seeing colleagues again, and getting some exercise walking to and from the office. My steps dropped off a cliff working from home. As I don't print or post anything I don't really move unless I go to the loo! Which is obviously not good physically!
I'm concerned about a vaccine being rolled out too quickly, as much as I want one to put an end to all this. I also want it to have rigorous testing.
And....DDs swimming classes are restarting next Sunday. We were very unsure about that. Our initial gut reaction was a big fat no, but having done some research we now know that the greatest risk is actually from changing in close proximity. And we're not allowed to do that now. Have to come swim ready (ie costume under clothes) and basically just put a towel poncho on, shoes on and leave after lesson. So, we're doing it.....still a bit iffy. Had to order some towel ponchos for us. It all just feels like a lot at the moment, so playing it by ear.
In unrelated news, I have upcycled a couple of DDs chairs by painting them and creating a cushioned pad which is now permanently attached. She kept complaining it wasn't comfortable, which is fair enough. Problem solved.
Hope everyone is well!February wins: Theatre tickets12 -

If it does come down to vets and if the children are given the vaccine my DS will have a lot of questions for the vet as he wants to be one when he grows up ah to be 4 again and enthusiastic! Atleast the government are act
I have hated buying school uniform, i've had more contact with people because on buying the uniform than ever before, pandemic or not. Ordered 5 - 6 for everything and none of it fitted, frantically been scraping together uniform from various shops and also some branded polo shirts from a friend preloved as I am not sure if the correct size will arrive in time for term. Elaine not sure if you are thinking Clarks maybe not as your sons are older but they all had masks and visors on and are booking appointments.
I spent most of yesterday looking at water bottles for DS, i've ended up buying 2 expensive metal branded ones after reading horror stories for various, I was looking at a well know branded plastic one and they recalled 6 million last year as the silicon tip came off in children's mouths, then you get into the numbering of the plastic, I looked at one that we already owned and it had number 7 on the bottom apparently this isn't good or recommended for children?! Anyhow we invested in metal which is also dishwasher proof, hopefully they arrive in time, my theory is parents aren't going into classes so they shouldn't go walkies and I doubt 4 yr olds know the value of bottles.
Euronorris re swimming and getting changed afterwards, we have Frugi "snugglesuits" they are all in ones, they are expensive but good value in sales and are carseat compatible/safe.
More from Zante landing and infecting others this time in Cardiff according to the BBC.12 -
Euronorris Our grandchildren's swimming club started up again a couple of weeks ago and they are so happy to be back
They wear onesies and just pop them on over their swimming gear afterwards.

Some of me envies him. A world of decades with no phone, no internet, no nonsense.
Much more of me thinks his neurological condition facilitated it all & that (thanks to biology) no woman could have managed it without a steady supply of birth control pills designed to also prevent menses. Also that while life as a hermit might have been fine, I want to hear the story a decade later when society has tried to integrate him. He got a job with his brother - which (depending on how tolerant you are feeling of your siblings) may or may not have worked.
His idea of prepping is not mine, his idea of waste disposal is not mine, but I live as part of a community & he's having to figure that.14 -
