With a poor grain harvest across Europe, and tariffs of £80 a ton, huge price rises are on the cards10

Sooo - time to sort out the freezer then! That might seem a bit of a non-sequitur, but it isn't - the freezer's dying & I need to order a new one. But it's been agreed that the old one will stay & be used as a grain store, both for poultry feed & oats, flour & rice for us. Once the new one's arrived (and it will be new; there's nothing suitable for outbuildings on Marketplace, Gumtree, or Ebay) I'll order in a sack of strong flour, which should keep us in bread all winter.Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)11

I found AO are generally pretty good and efficient for white goods @thriftwizard. And cashback via Quidco. Otherwise there are sites that sell returns/stuff with cosmetic damage that can be good value.12

No prepping done – I messed up and ended up having to go to the hospital twice this week when I could’ve had my blood test done at the same time as my other appointment. Obviously that’s used all my strength and stamina.I have managed to get halfway through gardening for the zombie apocalypse which is quite tongue in cheek but, it’s for novice gardeners. This is a huge achievement because I only been able to read one book in the last two years.
Has some interesting nerdy facts which appeal to me - optimum nutritional yields per square metre et cetera!I’m going to have to start pacing myself better – and I really need to restock toilet roll and a few other necessities.14 -
@3secondmemory - due to my loathing of shopping I buy toilet roll in bulk a few times a year. I’ve been using ‘who gives a !!!!!!’ recently and getting boxes of 48 at a time. My mum bulk buys on her supermarket delivery. If you have storage, buying this kind of boring stuff online is a good option.I’ve got a supermarket delivery slot for Sept 7th so am busy trying to work out what boring stuff I need for then. And a health food shop order building up. But trying to balance having enough to stuff to cope with possible quarantine with the fact that the kitchen will shortly need to be emptied for the new one to be fitted.13

I bought a 24 pack of toilet rolls and have space in the tiny downstairs bathroom however my 2 small children helped massively by over filling the sink! I'm considering turning the nursery into a a temp store room and leaving baby in with us for another 6m so that other children can't get to anything else! On the subject of storage.... I'm going to stock up on A own brand weetabix its a staple food for DS how is best to store these? We have a small larder with shelves starting from waist height 3 rows high, the very top shelf of the larder is perfect cereal box size on their side however we also have tiny black mites occasionally, I've also seen them on windowsills throughout the house. With this in mind I don't put anything in the larder that isn't sealed and the weetabix isn't sealed enough compared to cornflakes, how is best to store? Also packets of custard etc they are just in a plastic basket will the packaging degrade?13

When I came out of hospital last November, I decided to shield. I’d already started buying some things in bulk – I was getting 24 toilet roll at a time and the wonderful thing is that they. I’ve got a fair idea of how much I use over eight months because the only thing I’ve run out of is shampoo.I love Amazon subscribe and save – although I have over ordered mouthwash and cat food!I’ve learnt that after the first can of coffee mate, couldn’t stomach it any more but I’m buying powdered milk which you make up a pint of the time and I don’t my long life milk.I have a lovely over the knee desk to use in bed so I’m going to set that up as my office because I can’t seem to concentrate as my desk but I have loads of ideas as soon as I lay down.I realise I’ve paid for more this year for delivery and I have are usually would but I think price rises next year I’m going to way that so I’d rather have it now.

Also I’ve kept every receipt of what I’ve spent since November – necessary because I was misled by a carer and ended up with £2000 credit card bill a few years ago.
I was had the intention to sit down and put it on the spreadsheet but obviously that’s never happened
