If the seed potato has disappeared entirely, I would be inclined to think that some kind of critter has dug it up and had it away?!February wins: Theatre tickets11

Euronorris could be right- we had a fox digging around our potatoes at the allotment and left half a rabbit behind once, semi-buried. Fortunately it was gone the next time we went and the potatoes were still there though!
On the topic of pulses, I am growing borlotti and cannellini beans for drying, as well as edamame and broad beans. I’m planning to try chickpeas next year too and was also tempted by lentils but thought it might be a bit of a faff to harvest them.I use an instant pot electric pressure cooker to cook dried pulses (kidney beans excepted as they do need boiling) as I’m lazy and it does away with the need to soak and also massively cuts down cooking time vs on the hob. As a vegan I eat a lot of pulses but also like variety so I pretty much have a bag of most things they sell in mainstream supermarkets with the most commonly used ones (red lentils, black beans, chickpeas, split yellow peas, puy lentils, pearl barley) stored in glass jars and the rest just in their bags carefully resealed. If you’ve had stuff knocking about for quite a while then you might find they need soaking for longer but I don’t worry about expiry dates on dried.Original mortgage free date: November 2044Current mortgage free date: November 2038Chipping away...12 -

For those worried about blight search for 'blight + aspirin'. Have used this for the last 3 years on tomatoes and spuds and only had blight very late in the season.
It's basically a 1/4 of a 300g tablet per litre of water, sprayed on.14 -
Should have said soluble aspirin!11

Looking for nice veg recipes for a person who hates veggies... anybody?

Make a tasty veg curry with rice and naans?
Chop up mixed root veg (carrots, swede, turnips, squash, sweet potatoes, onions, potatoes, beetroot) and roast in a baking tray with oil and salt?
Veg stew with dumplings?
Stir chopped spinach or kale (excuse me swearing) into a homemade chicken curry?
Use assorted green and root veg with kidney beans to make a veggie chilli? One life - your life - live it!13 -
Also Greek-style green beans. Gently cook green beans in a generous amount of olive oil (at least enough to cover the bottom of the pan.) When nearly done combine with chopped tomatoes, add salt and black pepper to taste, even basil or oregano if you feel adventurous. Heat through then serve as a side dish, It might work with other green veg too.One life - your life - live it!14
