I don't think you have bruised any toes,I think people are just interested in why you feel you won't ever be able to go out again, like you say you are entitled to your opinion and you are also entitled to share it here but so is everyone else, they aren't getting at you they are just stating their opinion on how they are going to deal with the virus, how they deal with it won't effect you and doesn't mean you have to do what they are doingMrsLurcherwalker said:I'm wrong as usual, sorry folks! you really all are allowed to do your own thing in life, I'm not and never have suggested otherwise. We walk out every day, just don't go into the village and don't go into shops and avoid being close to anyone else and if that's wrong well so be it. I want a future, I intend to do everything in my power to achieve a future either after covid or alongside it if I have to adapt to conditions that prevail. You are all very much free to do what YOU think is sensible and right and take whatever precautions or risks you feel are the right thing to do for you as an individual. No one knows the future, least of all me so good luck and bon voyage go and have fun!
Would it be better if I didn't post here? I feel as though I've bruised very many toes with my opinions?
Im sure no one here feels like you have bruised their toes, I do not know you very well but you seem very anxious about it all, do you have anyone sensible around you to talk about it with

I agree that we have to strike a balance that is right for our individual circumstances,I thought I would have loved to have locked myself away at home but couldn't because of work,I've just had four days off sick and now realise I would have gone bonkers locked away at home for the last however many weeks it's beengreenbee said:
Precisely. We're all trying to work out how we're going to manage in a changed world. My advice (which is based on research I'm actually paid to do!) is not to plan too far ahead. We don't know what's going to happen, and the uncertainty is the cause of a lot of the emotional and mental pressure we're under. While we talk to businesses and other employers about doing scenario planning based on a variety of outcomes (some more realistic than others), we also advise them not to make any concrete plans more than about 6 weeks ahead - which is frankly all most people can cope with at the moment. Most of these scenarios are revised and updated regularly, as information changes.squirrelgirl said:
I have to agree with pineapple - I don't think anyone's toes are being bruised! The reality is that if opinions are forwarded, they will likely be challenged - that's the beauty of discussion!pineapple said:
All some are saying is that no one has to live life in a certain way. Circumstances differ, personalities differ and what's right for one person isn't right for another. Pretty sure no one's toes are bruised (mine are ok anyway). It sounds like we all agree anywayMrsLurcherwalker said:Would it be better if I didn't post here? . A bit boring - I might have to head over to a politics forum for a bit of controversy....
The best thing we can do to prepare is be flexible. Everyone is going to have to make decisions about quality of life, and what the balance they want is. Some people are going to be very afraid, some may come across as too relaxed. My 94-year-old neighbour who has congestive heart failure seemed to think she wouldn't get it and if she did she was DNR anyway - it was only pointing out firmly to her that it wasn't about her, it was about the impact on the people she might spread it to and the key workers she would put at risk that stopped her going out and about as normal. However, she is really suffering from lack of a social life - she sits in her front garden when it is nice and chats to anyone passing but we're on a fairly busy road so there aren't that many people walking past. I have noticed that recently her curtains are opening later and closing earlier. There are significant mental and emotional issues developing amongst all sorts of groups, but particularly those who live alone.
My brother is a GP - he grounded me when I landed back from my work trip (and made me call my own GP) and my mum a couple of days later. All a couple of weeks before lockdown. Although my mum's inside help was stopped, we were happy for her to carry on having help in the garden, and as when the weather was OK to have a cup of coffee and a chat in the garden with friends dropping off shopping or walking - they bring their own flask and sit several metres away. Now she can go for walks with other people which is hugely helpful, and her cleaner is coming again while she shuts herself in her studio and paints. This is really important, as she simply can't cope with the housework and if she had to do it longterm she'd either have to take more pain relief or live in squalor, neither of which are ideal.
I've had some outside work done, which hasn't required any contact and has helped keep small, local businesses going. Now that we're allowed to meet up with one other person for exercise I'm seeing my brother and his family - one of them at a time for a walk every few days. The kids' first argument since the start of lockdown was about who got to come with me first... I'm restricting my permitted 'public meetings' to family and not adding friends into the mix because my brother is a GP and is therefore more likely to have been in contact with germs than most. We're assuming I've had the virus, although I haven't yet sent off for an antibody test.
As society works out how we're going to change, we will all have to work out what it is we want to do. I won't miss supermarket shopping and hope I can continue to manage without it. I'd like to get back to doing some of my shopping in person in local shops, but not much. I'm also hoping for much more working from home, and a bit more social interaction with friends based around exercise rather than eating out/being inside. But I don't want to go back to being as frantically busy and stressed as I was.
I am looking forward to being able to go and meet people for a walk, my eldest daughter is talking about us meeting up as soon as we can for a socially distanced walk, it's going to be hard not to hug her but that's the compromise, I'm not seeing my grandchildren when we meet because they are both too young to understand social distancing, I have had to balance the risk against mine and my daughters mental health because I work in a hospital, I'm on the children's ward so my risk is low but it's still there so no grandchildren contact yet
Last week my oven packed up and I had to get someone in to fix it, the man that came round was very impressive with the way he had worked out how to do the job and not break the social distance rule, I was quite reassure about having someone in my home to do essential workOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,89419 -

It's from Lloyd's pharmacy. 99% reliable I think I read. It requires you to do a finger !!!!!!, and collect your own blood, so it won't be for everyone (people with a needle phobia couldn't do it, I suspect). But I am not phased by needles, so willing to try it. I think they have sold out now though.Onebrokelady said:
Can I ask where you got your test from, I would love to know if I've had it because I had some very dodgy symptoms back in February that could have been anything or a mild case of covid, I had seen on the news that they are meant to be testing nursing staff and healthcare workers first but I'm not sure how reliable that is 😊euronorris said:My antibody test kit arrived yesterday. If it shows I have had it, the anxiety levels in DH would drop dramatically. He is struggling quite a bit with his anxiety because of all this.
I believe the NHS one is also super accurate, and only gives false negatives in a small number of cases, and doesn't give false positives apparently. That doesn't account for human error, of course, but it's about as reliable as a test can be.February wins: Theatre tickets11 -

Thanks for a very sensible post baggins I am at home with 2 children and a DH who is fortunate to work from home for now. I am shielding and have had to make a benefit claim for the first tome and I’m unable to work.
It’s a worrying time for everyone and people should be sharing prepping knowledge to help others through this hard time.
I was pleased to see fuddle posting again and enjoy everyone’s input, I do like tho how more people are posting rather than just lurking as the ‘clique’ seems to have dispersed a bit. Just my opinion but that’s how it felt a bit.
This thread should be for all and taking wisdom and sharing ideas to help each other.
Think my 2022 box will also have 2023 items in then at Xmas I’ll move these to stores and do 2023 & 2024

Ps I really enjoy MrsL’s and others posts, don’t think I’ve ever been offended just a bit of an outsider maybe?
Loving EuroNorris blanking Pr* ck ..... haha

OBL try reading some of the earlier threads too as some of the basic information is so easy to implement.
maybe we need a preprint back to basics thread?Living the simple life13 -

Thanks, I will go back and have a look, there's only two of us and in a year or two it will just be me,this pandemic has made me think that if I was here on my own it would be sensible to have back up stocks in case I can't go shopping for any reason, or like toilet roll gate things sell out, I was lucky when the crazy toilet roll hoarding happened because I had just bought a pack of 24 🙀I did stock up in some tinned food in case I got ill and couldn't get out but thankfully I haven't had to use any of it yetTink_04 said:OBL try reading some of the earlier threads too as some of the basic information is so easy to implement.

I am thinking ahead to winter though as I have a nasty suspicion that the poop is going to hit the fan this winter so I want to be ready in case that happens, I am lucky that working in a hospital I am always going to be working so don't have to worry about a lack of income, it's more the possibility of shortages I'm worried about 😊Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,89415
