C_J said:Just wanted to thank you SiClist for the link to your old Singer blog - that was a fascinating read! You're most welcome. If my Lady Wife hadn't said "I wonder if ..." yesterday, I'd have no idea it was still out there!Anyhow, if anybody's got an old Singer (by which I mean a proper one that you could anchor a small boat with in an emergency, not a modern plastic abomination with a Singer logo on it) that's in need of TLC and they can be bothered to trawl through that blog, there's actually quite a few handy hints on it.

Yes, great news. I have also been offered some material by sister in law, and my mum. Mum bought a machine a couple years ago, and experimented, but she has quite troublesome arthritis in her hands so found it too painful, bless her.
Food shop arrived, cleaned and packed away. Miracle. Bread flour delivered!! Amazing!
Off to look for a good mask pattern. One where a filter could be placed inside, preferably. Though obtaining filters likely still very difficult!February wins: Theatre tickets11 -
I've heard that you use a HEPA vacuum cleaner bag filter - haven't tried it, thoughIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!9

looking at writing a shopping list of items I am using and hope to replace in the new future, I have been researching prices etc. one of my main bulk buys has always been Baked beans the 57 variety , the only tinned meal I won't normally skimp on, and always bought when on offer at least 50 p a tin.... I was shocked to find they are selling at around £1 to £1,20 a tin now, even when bulk buying.. is this just a sign of the CV19 or do you think the price will come back down?today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.

HWK went to the allotment this morning and as he was walking home he saw another allotmenteer who told him there are quite a few empty plots at the moment.....so we rang the council as there is a half plot two away from ours which is still cultivatable this year without too much work to get it back to planting readiness and they'll get back to us in a couple of days! that would be really useful as we could get and plant maincrop potatoes, put in another runner bean trench with a proper frame, grow a good stand of winter leeks and some carrots and it would give us room for more squashes than we'd thought. Next year we can also plant up a double row of raspberries on it!
Have decided to get a thornless blackberry to plant along the back fence here in the garden too, will be useful if it crops as well as the Hampshire ones did!

We've got another half plot! with a shed and not too much by way of weeds just gazillions of dandelions which HWK will dig out. This is going to give us room for maincrop potatoes a decent stand of leeks for the winter and more squash and courgettes than we'd thought to grow. It has a currant bush (black/red???) and some raspberry canes already in and an established globe artichoke along with a strawberry bed so I'm very, very happy!20
