I am concentrating on my veg garden more intently this year as I have a feeling I will need the fresh stuff through the summer and the storing veg/winter veg more than ever. I spoke to a neighbour who is doing the same, she is concentrating on veg that she can store such as potatoes and squash as she feels this may have fall out way beyond the virus.
We have tourists turning up here in South Wales even though the new cases recorded were 50% within just our area! I hadn't even thought of them buying food in the shops etc. The holiday cottage closest to me is let out but it is a barn , down a long private lane in the middle of nowhere, so I suppose the people there are thinking they are social isolating!

Jazee said:you know you've brought them up right when your Mother's Day present is a camping gas cooker with gas. It's brilliant, two rings and a grill. ... Oh, and a box of fudge because I don't keep treats in my preps as it would be too tempting. I would have hugged him if I could.
parenting & oh how I understand the would have hugged! That’s what I most fiercely miss from my parents - I can phone them, Skype them, am being chivvied into learning “zoom” - but I miss the reassurance of testing their heft, feeling pulse & temperature in a hug! Ah well, all being well I’ll still have them for Christmas.

With regard to frequent hand washing. If you don't go out and live on your own do you need to wash your hands more frequently than you did before the virus? My hands are getting dry and I only have limited hand cream.

For your hands, try exfoliating gently once a day so you don't get dry skin building up and maybe pat your hands dry with the towel rather than rubbing. Mine are also suffering.
Anchor yourself to the foundations of everything you love.
Thank you to all those who post competitions!:beer:12 -

I live on my own and am not handwashing to excess. I do think you have to be a bit sensible about this, if you are not handling stuff from outside then I certainly wouldn't. Just normal washing as and when needed. I have just been shopping and yes I washed my hands when I came in but haven't washed when handling food brought in. Maybe I need to write a note and stick it somewhere to remind myself. I have clinell wipes, alcohol hand sanitizer but have not felt the need for either yet.11

Scottish ferries stop taking people/cars who are not on essential journeys. And Nicola Sturgeon going for emergency powers to force pubs to close.

She’s right M. And it’s ridiculous that people are heading to the islands. Also some schools had told pupils they had to come in on Monday to finish course work!14
