Mind you, they've also all banned bonfires, incinerators or barbecues outside, too like that ever got listened to and the latest versions apparently forbid the use or installation of open fires or wood/pellet/etc burners.
Seems to be a small spike in diarrhoea and vomiting cases at the moment. Ironic, considering the handwashing advice.
And does nobody teach their children to blow their noses anymore? Half of the 'I feel sick' ones are wailing for their Mums to be called in between snurking great quantities of grot up and down into their stomachs.
Needless to say, I'm feeling rather queasy as well as a result.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll14 -
I presume the towels are in case people have to self isolate so they want to ensure they have enough towels, facecloths etc for each person during the two weeks quarantineNeed to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

JoJo this is a Housing Association house and they installed the stove and heating system as well as the cooker - although I bought that. They supplied the stove. It's common up here to have solid fuel heating or log burners in HA and council houses. But we will lose it soon I think. And then freeze our assets off with puddy electric heating that we can't afford...

I've been trying to remember your user name for years. I remember the OS Chronic health thread you started years ago and often wondered how things are with you. I started a thread myself a long time after I saw you on here last having checked the thread was no longer in use. I need to get back to posting there. Winter is always quiet as not many have much energy to post but now dd has recovered from her latest bout of Norovirus followed by flu it's time I made the effort.I started buying face cloths for cheap cleaning cloths a while ago . Wilkos sell cheap thick ones very cheaply and they do a good job. I can just chuck them in the machine with laundry sanitiser and give them a good hot wash.ETA Fibro fog is alive and well. Cheap, cheap and cheaply sums it uppollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Sorry I'm reading backwards through the posts It's a long time since I retired from teaching Jojo but many children favoured the wiping the nose on the sleeve method although rules were handkerchiefs. It wasn't and still isn't just children it's adults who don't seem to have any idea about basic hygiene. My immune suppressed dd wouldn't pick up constant infection if people considered others..We'll have to go off grid Mar. Think of all the Bothies North of the Border and the hidden wooden buildings I spotted in the Highlands.pollyx.It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

thriftwizard said:Clarifying what people are ordering/buying from DD1's supermarket that seems odd or misguided to me: heaps of towels & flannels (why did the spellchecker think I meant camels?!) & lots of air-fresheners & scented candles/reed diffusers. Vast quantities of crisps & chocolate bars, and energy drinks. I suppose they'll store well? But not exactly ace nutrition. Also "entertainment" items, mostly DVDs & games. Interesting...

We have quite a few towels anyway, as I prefer to have extra so one can be in the wash, one can be drying and one can be in use (for each of us), in the event of sick bugs. Same with bedding, especially for DD who still has night time accidents occasionally.
No idea about reed diffusers. However, I suspect the crisps and chocolate etc is because of the announcement that part of the plans will involve the supermarkets being reduced to essentials only if needs be. So people are buying extra treats now, so they dont have to go without if that happens.
I contemplated that myself, as I do so enjoy crisps. But I cant resist them if they are in the house, so it would never work. If I have to go without them for a while, it's not a bad thing.February wins: Theatre tickets10 -
