Interestingly, ssinsburys had half an aisle devoted to big candles and candle dishes/holders at the weekend. I wondered if the supermarkets had been directed by the government to make supplies like that readily available.February wins: Theatre tickets6

I'm so worried for this winter. Less so for us. We'll struggle through, but there are millions who are already hanging on by a thread, and the increased energy prices come October will devastate them. And no updated help on offer! 😥February wins: Theatre tickets7 -
So far we are £700+ in credit on our electricity account, but come Winter, well who knows how long it will last, once they put the unit costs up again. I feel for those who haven't been able to save a bit extra. There will be a lot of mental health issues on the way.
My dad got a letter saying he's entitled to a £75 voucher to help with household costs. Now...how does he use it?
I buy all his food shopping with mind in our asdaa delivery, his energy account is in credit and his water is paid in with his rent. Any ideas?2025 Fashion on the ration

Bear in mind also, Mrs CD, that you may buy your dad's stuff now, but the way prices are rising you might not be able to afford to keep doing so in the near future. It's a good ideas to use that money to get him stocked up on basic stuff plus some freezer stuff that will keep a while. One life - your life - live it!6

Fluffing Hell! That is not good reading Si, even more scary is the thought of me having to learn how to water bath/ pressure canning food, I've only done jams, pickles and dehydrating.

Thanks folks for your recommendations. My dad is one of those older pensioners who don't spend much, and don't eat a lot, but he does watch TV most of the day. His cupboards are pretty well stocked as a rule and he likes m&s mini meals which are stored in the freezer and heated in the top oven as and when needed. I'm torn between buying more food or putting it towards energy costs. Eon wanted to increase his payment to nearly double, but I emailed them on his behalf and they left it as it was.
I'm not sure how this voucher works, but I'll ask when I get it at the Post Office. I'm sure they'll know.2025 Fashion on the ration
