This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning :)

Awake since 2.30 :( Wish i could sort this out its getting earlier now. The one good thing is I will probably have to sleep tonight out of exhaustion. So jealous of those of you that can lie in till lunchtime I would love to :)

Anyway reason for above is of course stuff on my mind its a busy week and my brain thinks its a great idea to plan and awfulise when it should be sleeping.

This morning is Birmingham which is a hideous journey normally but apparently today theres storms due. Hoping for a good group ...its sales so we usually have a bit of fun makes a very long day worthwhile.

Yesterdays course was challenging... 25 16/17 year old boys who clearly would rather be in bed than in class (I know how they feel:D)they were quite sweet by the end though and it was very strange being called Miss :rotfl: Voice is a bit croaky now not used to having to yell at my groups.

Pizza last night for dinner. Pack up ready and waiting to be eaten in the car park. I have a big ham salad barm for lunch and a peanut butter butty for the car park :o Tonight may well be a skip meal if Im late back ill probably just head for bed

candy..how was your spiraliser?

Have a good day all :A

    Morning hello.gif

It's good to see you posting TravellingAbuela xx

    Hope you're OK Holly xx

Ooooh Vegas! Have a great time bellabella :D

I hope you get some proper sleep tonight Nels xx I've been complaining (to myself, everyone else is in bed!) about waking up at 4.30am, after reading your post I feel like I've had a lie-in, lol.

As soon as it got light yesterday, I looked out of the front window and saw frost on the field and the hill was white. The sky was pink. By the time we went for a walk, the sky was grey and it started raining as soon as we stepped out the door. We were soaked and freezing when we got back. I dried off with a towel but Scamp being Scamp, wouldn't have anything pressed against his body so he sorted himself out by rolling all over the carpet :D It was very windy all afternoon, I heard a tile slide down the roof on the side of the house, it didn't hit the floor so is probably stuck in the gutter. The only way to check is to ask my neighbour if I can have a look out of their bathroom window :D

The hall cupboard is mostly sorted, there are a few things that will be taken up to my craft room when there's space in there (will that ever happen?!).

There's not much to do here, except vacuum the lounge. So I'm going to have a Christmas things day. I have a few boxes of little red baubles, I'm going to cut lots of bits of cotton and sit in front of the telly while stringing them. The primary purpose of a bauble is to hang, so why don't they come with the hanging part attached? :D I started making my blanket yesterday so will carry on with that once the baubles are done.

    Morning All

A storm is due here later but all is calm at the moment. The rain yesterday was so cold! There are roadworks all over the place here at the moment and it took me over an hour to do a 3 mile journey. On top of that the post office have lost a parcel, not a good evening!

My arm is sore from the flu jab but apart from that I was a very brave girl, I really hate needles and was happy I didn't faint!

MM, I would second Candy's suggestion of the secret santa, that's what we are doing here for the adults.
Hope you've managed a good sleep in bed dumpling.
Just a thank you note would do Specky!
Have a good time bella, remember your friends when you win big!
Good to hear from you TA.

Have a good day if you can. Take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Nelski - thanks for starting us off, boo to the non sleeping x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Dark, wet and windy here this morning, been raining since yesterday, so very wet underfoot with laying water - forecast is for rain most of today and tomorrow.

DH and I enjoying first peaceful cuppas, I'm showered, dressed and just finished brekkie. Dinner last night was roast chicken portions with HM egg and veg fried rice - delicious it was too. Tonight we'll be having gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato and peas.

Work yesterday was very quiet, there was an event going on in the town and people tend to stay away as some of the roads/streets get closed off. Back to normal today, hoping for a busy day so the day passes quicker. Last day at work for this week, will be on days off from tomorrow and back to work on Monday.

Went to fat club last night and lost half a pound - so now need 3lb to get to target - really must get my head in the game to do this before xmas.

DH will be finishing the decorating in the kitchen today and then we can get stuff put back instead of it all over the dining room and in the lounge.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Good morning, and thanks Nelski for starting.

I'm another non sleeper, I woke about 3.30, and finally gave in and got up at about 5.15.

I'm dithering about Christmas shopping, should I go into Newcastle or the Metro Centre, the shops I want are in both places. I know the forecast is not good, but if I go to Metro at least I'm inside. I've been in denial about Christmas and am finally forced to accept that yes, it's happening for me as well, not just everyone else!!

That beef curry I made yesterday was ok, but I won't use that recipe again. To be honest, I only ate it because I'd made it and didn't want to waste it, We agreed that it wasn't the best curry sauce I'd ever made. Hey ho.

The quiz last night was pretty good, we enjoyed it and saw friends, so a good night all round.

I think I'll go back to dithering, and will pop in later, have as good a day as you can folks.

Bella, have a fabulous time, will be thinking of you!
  • Good morning all

Thank you for starting us off Nelski, have you heard from Holly? Hope you manage some sleep tonight.

I don't wake early, I just can't get to sleep, lay awake until the early hours, I'm so tired.

Olliebeak DH and I the only ones to visit mother, she talks to the care staff. They say she falls asleep at meal times and they have to help her eat, so I think it's an attention thing.

    Have a wonderful time bellabella

    Welcome BappyBrunette

Hope you all have a good day.
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.
  • Morning folks and thanks NELSKI. I can sympathise with the sleeping pattern as I am as bad. I was bad enough before but now I am worse than ever. Still a lot going on in my mind, trying to get used to being alone in a SK bed and also alone in the house at night all to blame.

I had a lovely day yesterday with good company. Met my oldest buddy as planned in the morning for coffee and mince pies (instead of cake) and we have decided to make it a weekly event now, every Tuesday. Last night my DB and SIL came up and had a good old natter with them too.

Today I am going on the bus to Skipton with my other two buddies. It's an age since we last did it with circumstances as they have been for me. The weather forecast has been reduced from strong winds to a breeze and the rain going to be gentle rather than torrential so, hopefully, the market won't be affected and we can have a good browse of that and, of course, the cs. Then the customary late lunch in the Red Lion, helped down with a wine or two.

The 2 youngest DGDs (we have 2 "Margots" now!)) started rehearsals yesterday at Bradford Alhambra for their parts as Sunbeams in the panto. This time it's Aladdin with Billy Pearce, as always, Christopher Biggins and Simon Webbe (ex Blue member) For middle DGD this will be her third year as a Sunbeam so she is an old hand nowadays. But it's all new to the the youngest and she is beyond excited!

Well I am waffling. Time for yet another coffee then better get moving. ((HUGS)) as always for all the poorlies, sad, worried and lonely. BELLA have a lovely trip and good luck on the machines! xxx
