PC shipped without licence key for winsows

Hi All

I bought for my business a Dell Inspiron 24 5000 , its great , problem is its been shipped without a licence key for windows 10 home and the retailer has run out of stock (PC World Business) , i can return it and get a refund or buy a similar PC , my life is too short for the stress i have spent setting this one up, getting IT support at the Accountants to install sgae all over etc , is it a simple case of buying windows 10 licence key and sticking that in ?

Im `happy` to do that just to move on but wanted to make sure technically it was as simple as that

Cheers

    Its a very small business

I asked them to provide me one and they said not possible , return or nothing

I dont really want to buy one as i have already `paid` for it but to be able to continue functioning with as little stress as possible what i need to know is it just a case of buying windows 10 as a download?

If you really want to you can...

~£220. And as a business you should not entertain the cheaper dodgy versions around. (May get it a little cheaper elsewhere though, and thatg is A LITTLE).

So your problem seems to be 1. going to PC world. (WHY would any business?) 2. Not getting what you paid for. While PC World's solution of you can return it is you like is ridiculous (they should make you return it as they should not try to sell a half product)_, it is legal.

Though as an extra though have you tried complaining to anyone but a front line monkey. They are not paid to care so don't. Take it further up and you may get a reasonable solution. PC World may be bad but I have never had an issue if you take it to the right people (and that is why business's should not use them, time = money).

Are you thinking of the activation issue caused by the recent MS update? :)

yes and apparently it should be activated `out the box` and it is beyond their powers to give me a key , apparently

and yes lesson learnt because if I send it back I have to buy another that I don't want as this ones out of stock for the foreseeable

Yes , poor business decision but to be honest it was a reasonable price and its fair to assume it would come with activated windows 10 per their spec on the website

Press the Windows key, type in winver and press Enter ... what version of Windows is returned? Does it say 1809 anywhere?

Not really sure what to advise you as this is a business transaction - but i would expect the seller to put you right EXCEPT that this is PC world we are talking about here .. :(

If it were me personally, I would just plug in the license key off an old windows 7 machine and carry on.

They are not normally activated out of the box. Thats normally the first setup where you get to choose the options.

After choosing your language and internet etc then it will activate.
