Parking (Code of Practice) Bill - What Should Be In The New Code of Practice?
Comments
-
Come on guys, bargepole is looking for ideas for the bill
The in's and out's of Smillies is completely irrelevant0 -
Actually looking for suggestions for the Code of Practice. The Bill itself won't be changed.
One thing which has cropped up in other threads, is Parent & Child bays in supermarket car parks.
I've never seen a court claim brought for abuse of one of these, probably because it's too vague contractually.
What age do you have to be to be classified as a 'child'. What about grandparents and grandchildren?
I parked in one of these at the local Tesco when my son was 21, much to his embarrassment.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -
Parking Eye has "parent and toddler" bays. Is there an actual definition of a toddler? I doubt itWhat part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

OMG have we forgotten MSAs (Services)?
They need to be singled out like Hospitals do, and the intention of the DFT was that Motorists were NOT to be penalised for overstaying at a MSA when tired.
Welcome Break lie and say the DFT say there must be UP TO 2 hours free parking, when in fact the rules say a MINIMUM OF 2 hours!
And so do Railways/Airports so that byelaws and the TMA on roadways is considered.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

We need something in the CoP about not ticketing Ambulances.
And similar rules about other emergency services - extending to health care professionals going about their business.0 -
I'd ban the paying of "commission" in regards to self ticketing. While I think some of the "Norris" comments on here are unnecessary (self ticketing looks like the least worst option to me quite often) the rewarding someone for a "win" sticks in the craw0

Update: the Bill had its first (of three) readings in the Lords yesterday, so they aren't hanging about.
There was no debate, this is all Hansard has to say:

Assume there was a child seat in the car and he was about 3ft or thereabouts ????? If not ..... well ?
No, he's a 6'2" rugby player, and a bit too wide for a child seat.
