Refused ps4 game return Asda

I bought call of duty blackops 4 at the grocery till and was informed by the young man that I had to pick my game at the collect counter but that was it. When I get there I notice the young girl just finger out my CD and put it in the box. I took it to my nephew and it appears I got the wrong one no biggie. 16 minutes had past and I come back to return it where I am informed that I cannot due to store policy of returning unsealed games. Upon telling her that I was not informed she shrugged and just repeated store policy. Where exactly do I stand? I'm feeling miffed as had I been told I would not have bought the game.

So was the box unopened when they sold it to you? That's what I'm getting from the "I notice the young girl just finger out my CD and put it in the box" comment.

If so, have you told them that? Seems like it could be an important point here. Or did they seal it up after putting in the disc?

It would likely boil down to the returns policy though I'm afraid, so they could well be in the right here.

Bit you could only find out the wrong game had been inserted after you opened it.

Ask to speak to a manager and explain what happened. They should be able to check their stock to find out an extra one of the one you wanted and one missing from the stock of the wrong one that was given.

I think they mean the bought the wrong game not that they were given the wrong game?
  • Some people are just jobsworths. Go back, speak to someone else, and they will probably sort this out for you.
  • Sorry for my atrocious grammar lol
They said they sell their games "unpackaged" the disc has some Micro dirt on it too but I can't proof that now. Gonna go back tomorrow.
  • Did you make a mistake and buy the wrong game or did the store staff member put the wrong game in the box?
  • I made the mistake and bought the wrong game
  • She said that it cannot be returned in case I had played it already which Is impossible since any new game Is at least a 30 min install
  • The install time doesn't matter - if their policy is not to accept returns, then that's that.
Nothing in law states they have to accept the return.

You could have a laptop in your car in the car park, and a way of copying it - they simply don't know if you have or not.
  • I understand it is their policy but had they made me aware of it before they handed me the disc I would not have accepted it.
