Paypal Chargeback - !!!!!!?

Sold a mobile almost a month ago. Sent off item, Recorded obviously, and also recieved positive feedback. Now almost a month later, the buyer has submitted an item not recieved dispute! They have stated that they have sent numerous emails and I have not replied to any of them. I have not recieved any at all! Very confused! I have over 400 feedback with 100%. My major concern is that I have now thrown out the Recorded slip, as I always do once feedback is left to confirm receipt of items. What should I do?

TIA

If the buyer has left positive feedback in theory that means that the transaction has taken place.

To be honest at the moment I would not worry to much, have you checked what their feedback is like, eg any negs, any mutual withdrawn,

Think there trying to pull a fast one.

They are definitely trying to pull a fast one and without the RD slip they will win an item not received dispute. Feedback does not prove delivery.

Is there anyway you can track down the tracking ID? Did you send it out to the buyer on any emails?

Maybe the buyer meant to file the dispute for a different seller?

    Maybe it's a mistake?

Firstly contact the buyer, explain that you are confused that they are claiming non receipt when they have left feedback and that you will be supplying the delivery confirmation to paypal. It never hurts to call their bluff.

Then do everything you possibly can to find your RD receipt..without that receipt you will definitely lose a chargeback, no question no excuses. It is entirely possible that the buyer left feedback by accident, I have done so when leaving batches of feedback, but even if the buyer is scamming you it won't make any difference. When you actually sent the item did you check it had definitely been delivered using online tracking ?

For future reference, and no it won't help you, it is worth always putting the tracking number into the paypal system to stop any dodgy claims, but even then you'll need to retain the slip for up to 6 months in case paypal require a copy. Lastly, recorded was of course the wrong service to use as items over £34 must go special delivery to be coverd against loss. Also with the continual problems of recorded items going astray or never being tracked it is not a service I would trust anymore as without proof of delivery you will lose any chargeback against you. merely using a tracked service is not enough.

For anyone who hasn't noticed, Paypal have now removed the option to input tracking details!
Supposedly another 'glitch' in the system.

  • Without the tracking slip, you could be in trouble.

I sold an item on ebay, received positive feedback, etc etc. MONTHS later, paypal investigated the payment. I think they do this randomly with some items over £250 ?? They asked for tracking info, which I couldn't provide. Like I said, I'd sold the item months before and the buyer had left positive feedback saying they'd received it.

Paypal then took the money out my account, leaving me with a negative balance. Eventually some debt company called and I had to pay the negative balance.

Despite the fact that my buyer had confirmed they received the item, it didn't matter. £250 down.

So, without the tracking slip.... I'd fear the worst :(

It makes you wonder, Im one of those people once the item has had feedback left, chuck the receipt away.

Guess it wll have to be an early New years resolution - keep receipts etc - dont file in rubbish bin x
