Unless things have changed since I had my S7, you could tell if you had the correct firmware if you got the "3" splash screen when you turned the phone on.

The "Three inTouch" app works on most Android smartphones AFAIK. We have a poor 3 signal at home and a Motorola G4 makes and receives calls over our WiFi.

That app was always really unreliable and awful to use and has only got worse as time has gone by. Three haven’t bothered to update the app since October 2016, I think it’s much better to get your phone working with real Wi-Fi calling than to have to use that app.

I agree with you here ^^

I stopped using it as call quality was awful and it put all the texts in it's own app rather than the default one! :(

That's a good points regarding it being available on the current model although the odd thing is that I have the option on my S9 but not my S9 Plus.

To clarify I'm talking about using the hardware version of Wi-Fi calling and not the intouch app which dies actually provide Wi-Fi calling

Yep you are correct you put the phone into flight mode and then turn on Wi-Fi and you should get it off handset the top next to the aeroplane

The phone was originally an EE handset but I bought it second-hand and got unlocked
If it was an EE handset it will have the EE firmware and so you won't get WiFi calling on Three. You'll need to rebrand it to the Three firmware or debrand it to the unlocked firmware. (You have EVR firmware and need H3G or BTU firmware)

This involves flashing the firmware and is outside of the scope of this forum. You'll find a guide to doing this on sites like Sammobile.

Am I right in thinking that all recent iphones do wifi calling by default nowadays?

Is there a way of me getting it simply on my new Xaomi X2 Lite phone?

ok you lovely people heres the latest, I flashed my S9 plus with old update from March 18 and it got stuck in a bootloop wouldn't event soft reset or hard reset just said call Samsung.

I tried this as the file is smaller and thus quicker to download.

So after a good panic and worry, I updated with the latest BTU it got about 25% and then crashed each time.

So ok I thought last roll of the dice and flashed with latest EE firmware and voila it worked. I then flashed with latest BTU and it comes up as XEU/XEU/EVR in the software menu which i was thinking seems wrong it should be BTU instead of EVR right ?

ANyway the result is I have Wifi calling and Voltr. THe issue was the phone was a PAUG and so Wifi calling is disabled by default.

Are there any advantages to using BTU

one thing to note is when I factory reset now the EE and lookout app are no longer preinstalled

Had a reply from three regarding this and their suggestion is that the phone is faulty and it's only Three branded phones that are able to do Wifi calling.

I have Wifi calling on 3 phones now (s7 Edge, S9 and S9 plus) ohhh this is painful
