You don't HAVE to print 15 pages per month (to get the free ink plan) ... you are limited to a MAXIMUM of 15 pages per month.
Sounds like that could be your lowest cost option, if you're only printing 2 pages per week (8-10 pages per month). If you think you may occasionally need to do a printing blitz then go for a mono laser.
I don't get this HP thing, whats in it for them? they sell a load of cheap printers then have to supply ink to people for free. What does it cost if you print 16 pages one month? there has to be a catch.0 -
the best printer and one that has been suggested and
i have also linked to isa laser MONO printer
this is the type I will be ordering
I am NOT buying a colour inkjet ,0 -
A slightly dearer printer than the Lexmark but a printer + toner package for £68 is pretty good (Dunno if you will need the spare toner for a while with your usage though)

Fair enough, that’s your choice.
All i’m saying is that I bought a printer 12 months ago for £25, am in the second set of cartridges (which HP supplied for free) and I haven’t paid HP or anyone else a penny for all the printing i’ve done in that time (other than the paper i’ve used).
However, if you’re set on a laser printer, i’m not going to try and convince you otherwise.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -

The “catch” is that if you go over the 15 pages on the free plan, it costs £1 for every additional 10 sheets you print. So do that regularly, and it gets very expensive.
However, that’s when you need to decide whether to move up to the next plan, which from memory, is £1.99 for 50 sheets. So, if you are regularly printing more than 35 sheets on the free plan, the 50 sheet plan would work out better value (and you are able to get 15 sheets for £1 when you exceed the 50 page limit).
Effectively, it’s all about knowing how many sheets you will print a month and choosing the plan accordingly.
Even the paid for plans in my view are good value as if you print 50 sheets a month, you will pay £24 a year for the subscription, this will use 600 pages which would probably use 1 and a bit of a colour and black ink cartridge and for genuine cartridges, these would cost more to buy. Accordingly, is does seem like it should work out cheaper overall (unless you want to compare against compatible cartridges).Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -

NO LOCAL LIBRARY OR FACILITIES
budget would like to be £5 , but that will not happen
parcel sending , print my own label = £2.99 , no printer = £6-9
I assume you know that myhermes offers print-in-store (and IIRC that allows small parcels up to 5kg, as opposed to the usual 2kg limit). But I assume no facilities includes that service.
And presumably you also know that royal mail small parcels are the same sort of price as hermes, but don't require printed labels. (Of course I don't presume to guess what sort of parcels you send...)
You could have a look on freegle / freecycle for a free laser printer - they come round from time to time. (I've had two mono laser printers from there - both worked flawlessly, but first was windows-only, which was a bit inconvenient since I mostly use linux.) But if you have no local facilities, that might also mean no local active freegle community.
(But yeah, definitely laser. I still remember the day we had a fedex bloke coming to collect a parcel, and we just could not persuade the inkjet printer to print anything..)0 -
Printers are cheaper than ink replaccement these days..0

Why not subscribe to WHICH? magazine for 1 month trial for £1. Lots of printers tested lasers & inkjet. You will save more than £1 if you follow their advice.
Maybe an old dot matrix would be suitable?Nice to save.0 -

I've just bought a new WiFi printer from ASDA for £5 because the leads are missing...
Inkjet though I'm afraid.0
