I had exactly the same problem with mine. I poured half a bottle of bleach down the hole and hey presto, no problems at all now. If it starts to get a little slow to drain, I put a good squirt of bleach down and it stops the problem in its tracks. The Cabbage

I had this exact same problem about 2 weeks ago. We took the bend off just under the plughole and cleared all the hair etc that we could see, but it made no difference.
I poured a tub of bicarb down the plughole and followed it up with about two thirds of a bottle of brown (smelly!) vinegar. Well, poured it quite slowly because it just kept fizzing back up at me!! Left it for about 15 minutes and then poured a kettle of boiling water down there. It didn't seem to make any difference... until two days later, when I got up in the morning to take my shower and it was running down the drain perfectly, as though they were the cleanest pipes in town!
I am still hoping that it was the bicarb and vinegar working through a lot of gunge slowly, and not that it's going down the plughole and out of some gaping great hole onto the ceiling below! :rotfl:0 -
I have really long hair - crushed egg shells works fr me

Hi all
I have read this entire thread and I have just this one urgent question, please.
Will any of these (soda crystals, hair remover, vinegar/bicard soda) damage pvc pipes and plastic sink drain holes?). Hence why I can't resort to lethal products like Mr Muscle drain unblocker.
We have a shower that is now very slow draining (not yet blocked but I do stand in an inch of waste water) and the culprit is more likely to be hair/gunk even though there is a sink hole trap.
I also think its a bad design because the shower tray drain hole runs into a pvc pipe which lies underneath the shower tray to the drain hole about 2 feet away. The old shower drained straight into it.
We're in a soft water area and no there is no chance of getting at this pipe underneath the tray.
Thanks.0 -

I have used hair remover with no problems with pvc pipes. I used an old chop stick to spread it round a bit, left it for about 20 minutes, a good rinse with hot water and the shower drained freely.

Hi all
I tried the soda crystals and vinegar - I'm afraid didn't make a lot of difference.
In the end I found half a bottle of Mr Muscle Drain Unblocker and poured that down. It was difficult to flush away with a lot of hot water afterwards as the mixture kept flowing back into the shower tray. I just kept adding hot water over the next hour.
After about 2 days, the shower started flowing away much much quicker.0
